I think a huge problem with politics today is how mind fucked each party has become due to the influence of echo chamber media. Especially with the rise of the algorithm, every person is fed a near constant stream of curated content that reinforces their side good, other side bad. Now we have gotten to a point where these views are so generationally enshrined, that we have adopted a set of moral values based on media that tells us we are right. Like Donald Trump? Here is endless stories about those crazy libtards who hate America and are tranny, commie, illegal aliens. Don't like Donald Trump? Here is a deluge of stories about how republitards are Neanderthal, bigoted, fascists who hate America. It is an endless cycle of ad revenue generating stories meant to emotionally invest you for profit, not for your benefit.

This then makes seeing the other side as human deeply uncomfortable, and so each side retreats into a hugbox of labels that allows them to simplify the world like a Saturday morning cartoon. It does not challenge you or help you achieve growth, it feeds you saccharine lullabies that you are always right. And this has spread to every worldview people have, breaking them down to good/bad depending on your viewpoint. Don't like trannies/blacks/women/white men/insert religion/gays/jews/etc.? You will be fed a nonstop stream of stories telling you that you are correct in disliking these groups, and you are morally good for doing so. This of course puts you on a collision course with anyone who disagrees with you, as a moral conflict where both sides are dumbfounded at the stance of the other.

So when I see the Charlie Kirk shooting and subsequent antics afterwards, I see this continuation of polarizing moralizing that has been going on for a while now, and I am not at all surprised. I do think people who are shocked at the sudden meanness of the left have really short memories as there has been similar levels of callous behavior from right leaning folks when something happens to a figure on the left. Ironically, the response to this behavior has been the same as when the roles have been reversed, contacting employers, posting information etc., which unfortunately tells me this is going to be the norm for some time going foreword.
