If anything, they'll probably try to pick up one of the old degraded Soviet nukes that was 'lost' decades ago. Assuming it was even functional, it would be horribly inefficient (which would ironically make it more dangerous since less successfully-fissioned nuclear material means more fallout) and if you think they could lob that into the American homeland then I've got a bridge to sell you.

In fairness, the norks aren’t nearly as likely to attempt a nuclear terror attack as Hamas.
And even if it’s rather unlikely that they could get a dirty bomb in the US, it’s not exactly good for the US if they set one off in Europe or something.

That said, I don’t see it being likely they’d be able to get the required materials at this point. Their best window was absolutely pre-9/11 and GWoT, too much surveillance now.
