I wouldn't say it's quite dead because democrats are still actually passing infringing laws in every state they control and the average libcattle will start it up again the next time a mass shooting occurs.
it would be remarkable if this taught them why that amendment is such a good thing, that would ironically bring some philosophical unity, but laws seem to be tools on average to be weaponized in whatever state they exist in to these kinds of people, rather than real ideals
it's a meaningless talking point, i'd say. hard communists resist it as well, because the communist manifesto says that all attempts to disarm the proletariat should be resisted by force, so any of them that have actually read it know to parrot that line, and that if they let the government take their guns they can't do a heckin' revolution.
