If it DOES happen, don't think people won't fall for it like last time. Cable news is a powerful tool for propaganda and fearmonger peddling. The docile masses will get in line just like last time.

I think the big question there is whether or not it's treated as a "one of us or one of them" type of issue. As seen last time where everything from masks, to vax, to fear was used as indicators of what side someone was on. Everyone yelled "don't politicize" but we see how that all turned out. (with never "trump vaxxers" becoming "OMG trust in the vax" as soon as someone with a D next to their name got into power etc.)

I liked the last lockdown and to be honest wouldn't mind another one. Quite a lot of fun with all the added free time well also seeing everyone slowly lose their minds. Don't lie to me kiwis I bet at least some of you guys out there agree with me.
Im not going to say it didnt have it's benefits, but I really did come into my own on cryptyo and affiliate markerting so I can't complain about it. I did love having no one on the roads and places basically empty. Terminally online was never so good as that.

Edit: Goddam someone reacted in fucking 4 seconds to this.

I really, really doubt another lockdown will happen. But, who knows. Masks maybe, but even that I think wont be 'mandated', maybe just firmly encouraged. I am more left leaning than most on this site and even I think it would be dumb to do another lockdown even if people are getting sick in droves. I doubt the govt or admin of hospitals actually care how overrun they get at this point. Maybe if they do, nurses will strike and actually get better working conditions for it, which would be kinda cool. I cant see how the virus will kill people the way it did when covid first happened. Mutations usually make things more contagious but less deadly, except for maybe grandma and grandpa :(
