Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

I haven't played Spider-Man: Miles Morales, or Spider-Man 2 (PS4), 'cos I can't be arsed, but Spider-Man (PS4) is too difficult for it's own good. I don't need a fucking constantly interrupting, nagging bitch tutorial, when I'm simultaneously trying to fight off thugs armed with bizarre weapons, and getting machine gunned to death by turrets all at once, whilst trying to find Wilson Fisk.

I felt this needed to be mentioned on somewhere other than Gamefaqs and Reddit. The swinging around places is breathtaking, though. There's an upside. I actually prefer exploring, dicking around and doing Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man stuff, than badly fighting off dickheads, 'cos it seems like the combat system, when it comes to counter attacks, is shite.

After dying multiple times on the same bit? Yeah, thanks, bro-ham, I think I'll give it a miss. However, I am thinking of going back on it, and setting it to Easy, rather than Normal (or Standard), but I don't trust the potential drop in difficulty, wherein the enemies'll be absolutely pathetic. I suppose I could try it sometime.

Also, the Max Difficulty boast? Bullshit, kuntz.

Man, is just Skill Issue on you... or maybe you are more casual at this point.
Well... maybe i got the shit quickly 'cus playing too much Arkham games in my day.

Hidetaka Miyazaki could break into your house, rape your wife, and murder your children and half the Souls community would say "lol skill issue" and the other half would write novel-length forum posts about how brilliant it was that From Soft's magnum opus masterfully teaches you that you're not safe even OUTSIDE of the game.

I really enjoy Souls games, but the insufferable fanbase's collective stance that everything is intentional and there's no such thing as bullshit or bad design in these games has rendered them invulnerable to even the most valid, common sense criticism. I'm looking forward to the day From seriously phones in a game in an obvious, undeniable way and all these spergs are too terrified of the h4rdc0r3 community they created to admit they don't like it.
Nier Automata tried doing the Dark Souls thing of having to recover your body, but by Act 3, it gives up on it entirely for the standard game over screen. Even the final dungeon doesn't commit to total game over either as it uses a checkpoint system due to the lack of save points inside the tower.

It's not that it's difficult, it's that you're supposed to be SPIDER-MAN, a guy who has to pull his punches to avoid splattering goons all over the pavement, but every attack feels like slapping a brick wall with a wet paper bag. It's just extremely unsatisfying. The old games did a much better job.

Same goes for the swinging, I found it much more enjoyable in the open world Tobey Maguire games and in Web of Shadows.

I think the change is more due to narrative clashing with gameplay. Act 1 and 2 the revives is your AI being put into a new body by the androids in space and you can go get your stuff from the old body. This is important for the narrative because 2B and 9S die over and over in the story. Act 3 there isn't really any spare bodys because the space station is destroyed and even if it wasn't, it wouldn't make sense for A2 to have spare bodies seeing how she is a fugitive, so you get a classic game over instead. Also it would be harder to explain 2B's death if they can still swap bodies at that point in the story.

While I appreciate the attention to detail, but instead of game overs in act 3, it really should have been the village or resistance camp fixing the player characters up.

You could always just reload a save and regain all of your chips without having to risk a body run lmao.

It's not that they are invulnerable, I've made several MATI, it's just that autism is a hivemind and you cannot get a response from one of the fuckers unless it is in isolation. The ones I've ridiculed have always wandered outside their little hug box.

The swinging around is the best part of the PS4 game for me. The last Spidey game I played before that, not counting Marvel Ultimate Alliance, was the one that came out in 2000, when I was little. It was on PC, N64, and PS1 (I, of course, played it on the PS1, to add to my, I suppose, growing video game collection, that included Tekken 3, Spyro: Year of the Dragon etc. I also played a bit of Resident Evil: Director's Cut, and Max Payne, but, really, those were my dad's).

Actually, tell a lie, as I've just remembered: I played Shattered Dimensions on the PS3 before I picked up Spider-Man "1" PS4.

Spec Ops: The Line is probably the most overrated circlejerked game I can think of. The plot of the game feels like something an edgy 13 year old would come up with after reading Heart of Darkness for his school literature class. It's fucking comical how edgy the game tries to be with the whole "WAR BAD" thing while simultaneously getting a lot of basic shit about war wrong, and it basically plagiarizes every notable piece of anti-war media that's ever been made but with the pretentiousness dialed the fuck up. It's nearing Haze levels of goofiness. (UAE goes into complete societal collapse and anarchy because of a bad sand storm? And some us squad goes there and does shit because..? Oh wait we need to show the US Military in the Middle East because it's topical so we'll just stick them in a situation that makes absolutely no sense) Gameplay wise it's a completely by-the-numbers third person cover shooter but people praised it for being an anti-war shooter in an era when hating on modern military shooters, especially for being "pro-war", became fashionable. (Call of Duty is always pointed out as such despite being by no means pro-war, but people who don't even play those games claim they are because le propaganda/America Bad or something). World at War did "war is hell" far better and doesn't beat you over the head with THE MESSAGE like Spec Ops does.

Call of Duty may be mindless propaganda (it's not), but at least it's fun. Spec Ops wasn't enjoyable by any measure.

The first game's DLC is wildly unbalanced. If you struggled with the main game then that'd make you rage.
