No, it was still pretty faggy when Glee did it. I doubt anyone actually watched that and thought it was cool. Nor did "wokeness" enter culture through that show. Anything these people are trying to sell you is almost certainly bullshit.

I can assure you the show was *hugely* popular and not just among the high school set. The pilot was a legitimate phenomenon. The cast was on the cover of every major entertainment magazine at a time when that still meant something. There was a big drop-off in both quality and popularity after a couple seasons and the fandom devolved into hate-watching, but the influence of its first couple of seasons, including the presence of a number of prominent gay characters, was a watershed moment for network TV.

Yeah, but it was still faggy. I remember how popular it was but I take issue with the idea that wokeness came about through it. That's not how it happened. When the show was at its height of popularity, all that stuff was rare to find on the Internet.

(Especially when some of the stuff they did would absolutely be savaged nowadays...)

I think it is a pretty interesting thought provoking topic that glee caused the crazy woke crowd.

I just got the worst flashbacks to my university roommate who loved the show and was sucked pretty hard into identity politics because 'the oppressed need a voice/queerbaiting is wrong!' or whatever. The thing was, when she was thrown into the real world, she really couldn't cope well with it. Every place/job had problems and instead of learning to maybe, idk, chill out, she'd just go from job to job and constantly complain about the "injustices" at the last one.

This was in 2014 too, so considering things have just gotten worse over time, I do think there's truth in that article. The whole manifestation of self in fictional characters and inability to separate television from reality (Seriously, she ALWAYS had to have a villain wherever she went so she could morally grandstand as if she was in a show) is reflected in a few 30+ year old girls. I doubt it all came from Glee, but I noticed any female I talk to who was on tumblr during that time still will make snarky remarks about "white people" despite them being whiter than a polar bear in an arctic blizzard. There definitely was brain rot in that website that escaped.

Honestly never cared for this show and didn't give two shits that it was poplar. In my opinion Glee created more shitlibs in both fans and the fucking actors as well.

I don't think majority of tv shows warrant more than one season. All the unique or innovative elements of the shows come early, and are then dragged out across multiple seasons. It doesn't help that they inevitable devolve into soap operas, where every secondary character needs to be fleshed out and put a halt on the primary story. Mini-series and Anthology formats are superior the standard serialized one.

Squid Game was my kind of comedy. It was funny in every way.
Every death, every scene of suffering, every bad dubbed line was comical.

I tried watching a few episodes of Seinfield and I couldn’t stand it, I’m sorry Jerry Seinfeld was so fucking annoying with his delivery and the jokes were boring observations about random crap that most people could probably think up. It really was a show about ‘nothing’ and I could tell. Maybe it gets better in the later seasons since I don’t watch anything past 4 but I have no idea why it’s hailed as the greatest American sitcom ever, It was boring as shit and I couldn’t stand a single character.

From what I've heard it is like Skins. Aka, gratuitous sex and drugs and drugged out sex and sexy drugs, with teens.

Sons of Anarchy was a poorly written, melodramatic soap opera. I'm genuinely baffled that there are people who rank it up among the likes of Sopranos, the Shield, the Wire, and the likes of actual good TV. Same with Dexter, though the writers for that show at least occasionally showed some self awareness for how dumb and cheesy it could be.
