Unpopular opinions about food

Anything sugary makes me vomit. Usually sugary things aren't even appetizing to me at all but occasionally I underestimate the sugar content in something (or someone offers me something and I don't want to refuse it) and then get sick for the next hour and a half

I hate seafood, bacon and melon. Everyone around me loves those and its like. nah.

Cilantro/Coriander. For me it tastes like soap and one out of twenty people have the same faulty genes. Ruins every Pho soup I had after my childhood when my tastebud's changed.

That's interesting, because I had exactly the opposite happen. It tasted like soap when I was a child, but now, I love it.

I'm not a big cilantro fan either, but it doesn't taste like soap to me. It just reminds me of the smell of stink bugs. I'll still eat it; it's just a mild association. If I have a choice I'll go without, but it doesn't ruin food for me either.

I don't care how healthy and popular chia seeds supposedly are. I'm hesitant to try them because they look weird and gross, akin to frog eggs.

They really are a bizarre texture. Having grown a chia pet before chia drinks, chia pudding, and the like came into vogue that was all I could think of. It's like a not-quite-solid Jello shot. Mr. Multiples will get those chia kombuchas from time to time but the slime that chia seeds give off in liquid is off-putting to me.

When I can, I like to eat Western foods that I consider greasy/messy with a fork and knife. You know, stuff like burgers, fries, chicken nuggets, sandwiches, or pizza. I don't like salt and grease getting on my fingers.

I'm a big fan of spicy food, and I'm a bit disappointed that you can never find any snack food that's spicy here in the US that is actually spicy, or doesn't taste like shit (flaming hot cheetos).

Nothing will ever touch the god tier that are Chile Limon Flamin' Cheetos. Starting about 07/08 I could only find them at a 99 cents only store but they improve upon every aspect of Flamin Cheetos.

I hate people who like spicy food and brag about all the sriracha they use on everything when they wouldn't fucking touch it 5 years ago when we were eating goddamn pho.

Try searching in grocery stores/gas stations that are in lower income areas with a higher proportion of minorities. I know that Walgreens in lower-income areas of my city have a better and more varied selection then the ones in the suburbs.

I can find them pretty much everywhere now, thankfully. And in larger bags, for better or for worse.

In the spirit of this thread I'll continue: Cinnamon-flavored candy. This is seriously like one step away from a blast of pepper spray. Fuck Big Red, Red Hots, anything of the like. Most cinnamon-flavored things have way too much in it and it has such a tendency to overpower everything else.

Sriracha is vastly overrated.

isn't it just spicy ketchup?

Basically. It's more or less the normal recipe for Ketchup, but they (depending on manufacturer) swap out a percentage of the tomato paste for ground chili peppers. I've had some off-the-shelf brands that are basically mildly spicy ketchup to the occasional blend at a Chinese buffet that would set your tongue on fucking fire.

Yea I still haven't tried it yet. I sorta like spicy food, but it depends on what I'm eating. And I don't need to constantly challenge myself with how spicy the dishes i'm eating are. I'm not really that much of a spice-lord. I have a lot of friends who want the spiciest whatever they can eat. It's like don't you like to taste your food also? I should try Sriracha, I guess, but haven't had the chance, cuz I have no idea what I'd put it on. I've seen people put it on fries, burgers and pizza, but I'm not sure that's my bag. Maybe Chicken fingers.
