We have been presented with the gayest shit imaginable and are coping that it’ll become secretly based in a year. Surely nothing bad will come from this mindset.
one of these days, Toby will finally take that trip to negrotown while telling everyone to eat shit, faggots again.

Why can I not ditch the foids and go hang out with Berdly?
In this world, your choices don't matter.

Sadly I think the fact you can (essentially) kill him has also killed any possibility of him being important again.

You'd have to make an entire alternate route for the story based on one character being dead or not, which I don't think Toby is willing to do.

To be fair, given the game's premise, we are the bad guys here.
i know that toby is a faggot, but he did not copy his previous work to that extent. deltarune doesn't judge the player, just gives a choice to kill or not kill berdly
Barely three days later and we're already back to wishcasting that Toby is a secret chud who hates le delta western fan
the fact that this chapter gave us so much hope is fucking unbelievable. you know i get it, chapter 5 sucked but i think this was the point. to give us more clues in a seemingly filler chapter. honestly it hits lore wise just as strong as chapter 4. toby surely was hyped up while making that arg.

So, I played it, and I really enjoyed it! But it's got me thinking of the Mother 3 quote.
"If it comes to the west, you can play it and see how unoriginal I am."
So, most people assume this is tied to Dess and the Knight. Klaus, the brother of the player character Lucas, goes missing and becomes The Masked Man. He pulls the needles on the island for evil, while you pull them for good. Except, the player character doesn't know it's Klaus, until the end. Where you fight...and he realizes what he's turned into, and he kills himself.

But this chapter, Asgore's flowers, and the conspiracies, the want to prove there was another world, that Undertale happened... That's also got some Mother 3 ties.

In Mother 3, everyone on the island forgot that there was a world before them. They simply restarted, with new names, and new jobs. Something called the Hummingbird Egg held their old memories, and it was kept guarded in Osohe Castle. There's one guy that explains this to you, because his job was just to remember:
I'm forgetting a lot, it's been years since I've played Mother 3.

But... Asgore has a castle where he's digging for his memories. He clearly remembers something, and those flowers that think they're human... They were, and we all know why.

Toby Fox clearly has a love for the Mother series, and this makes sense to me.

It would be interesting if the normal path was based on Mother 3, but the Weird path was based on Mother 1.

I think this chapter wasn't even that bad, just mediocre, the real problem is still the release schedule. Having to wait another year to (hopefully) see answers to any of the many questions about this games plot is worse than the chapter itself being disappointing. If chapter 6 (assuming it actually advances the plot/answers questions) released alongside this chapter, like chapters 3 and 4 releasing together, this chapter wouldn't be as hated.

I'm not a total doomer in regards to the future chapters, probably because I don't really care about shipping, but moving into the last third of the story with many unanswered questions and questionable character development cannot be a good thing. The only way to solve this would be to make the last two chapters longer, which I doubt will happen.

Toby relies on the drip-fed release schedule of this game to effectively milk as much money as possible out of it by extending the life of it's fandom, which then extends merch sales.

Yes it would be hated, same reason why chapter 3 is hated. These filler chapter suck. You don't start a story with 2 chapters, then release the next 2 chapters together, where nothing happens in 1 and the other one has MAJOR reveals, then follow it up with another chapter where nothing happens. That's just a sandwich using shit as bread. If 5 + 6 were released together and 6 rapidly advanced the plot and answered questions, then people would hate chapter 5 since it didn't and it was long as hell. At least chapter 3 was short with the majority of the content revolving around getting the shadow mantle.

Kris doesn't wants an half-bird son without nipples.

I doubt it.
Also I kinda wanna say that I realized that it would makes sense to be "another adventure", since it ends up with the fuck squad (kris) getting one of the codes.
I just wish toby would stop sucking on his own dick and fingering gay nigger axe wounds while making it.

Maybe it was said already, but it really can't be understated how little "role-playing" there is in Deltarune. I was going for "attack everyone" neutral route and almost all major bosses in chapter 5 are impossible to defeat without acting, since they get constant max heals

It's especially annoying in last boss fight, since your party members will be the ones healing him. I thought: "Hey, what if I get my allies downed, maybe then I could solo fight the boss?". Nope, allies even when downed will still heal the boss lol. It feels like Toby wants you to enjoy his game in a certain way and actively punishes players for trying to think outside the box
That's depressing and a mega-step down from Undertale where you could essentially force Toriel to kill you if you were clever enough and she even has a split second shocked reaction for doing so. It's still a game over, sure, but you could do it.
(For those somehow in this thread and unfamiliar she normally stops before she kills you.)

I still don't understand how Toby Fox managed to fumble ep 5 this hard.
The gameplay is OK, but the story feels more like a tumblr tier fanfic.
The secret boss is meh with one annoying attack that's basically "bomberman on crack".
I do wonder if all the gay shit, especially with some of the flowers, was added strategically to ward off criticism.

This is the COAL timeline, but I'm still holding out for that GEM future. The future we all desire.
And if Toby doesn't deliver, I'll write the entire story, learn how to fucking make a videogame and then make it myself.
I've been thinking about this, the truth is one of the many reasons this game is taking so long is that Toby has to fill every chapter with a new gimmick that's built from the ground up. There's also the whole idea chapter 4 introduced where the prophecy is a sort of monomyth through which the same story is reinterpreted and retold. I think this is a reaction to the undertale fandom, with it's myriad AUs and the tons of fanwork for both it and deltarune.

This is cope, but I estimate that towards the end there will be some vague overture towards taking that white pen of hope and retelling the story in the way you want to. All of this code, all those gimmicks, all these unused party members (like berdly) will be used by people to write their own deltarune in their own way. (Now with less yuri)
