>There’s a handful of reasons that make Yoyo quite possibly the most despised Squaresoft heroine out of the cast. She starts off as a rather selfish individual, but that seems to be a little bit of a “Shinji Ikari effect” where a more realistic portrayal of a person thrust into a situation beyond their means annoy the audience who are much more used to confident heroes who competently face their problems head-on showing no signs of self-doubt.

No, you don't get it, attempting to cheat and destroy bonds is actually heckin' realistic and nothing matters and we should all kill ourselves. I could barely read the article because half of it was taken up by "Enable cookies and use our site" (I could be missing some context), so I was going to go straight to the comments, but this really stood out to me.

I'm not going to applaud a character for being a duplicitous bitch. If Suselle actually happens, I may boot up UndertaleModTool to fuck up the game completely with offensive things and release it to the public.

Hits too close to home. At least Noelle has an excuse of Kris being the one who abruptly cut contact, presumably right after and sometime soon after the dessapearance. Little tidbits here and there show that she does indeed want him back even when she tries to woo the dino, but how much of that is just the dog throwing us scraps and how much would actually amount to anything we wouldn't know. Given Toby's track record, I'm cautiously pessimistic.

Still, a man can dream.

Imagine how funny it would be if this happened.
if krusie actually happened it wouldn't be ttd they'd just pretend they were always a supporter because they can never be wrong about something even if there was a collection of seven years worth of posts saying that they weren't. or they'd actually kill toby "tricky" fox

If I've learned anything from discourse on interactive art - it's that being miserable and shitting on the player is very intelligent and intelligent.

I agree. This is why Gaster should be a character with the sole purpose of delivering a fart joke and deleting your save file. It's somewhat related to that one ghost in Earthbound: Halloween Hack, so it's something that Toby would absolutely do! And here's an image that's applicable if you disagree with me:

(If this was a comment directed at me, it's understandable, but I doubt that I would be miserable while creating a mod with stupid things that amuse me.)

BTW, the same guy who wrote that game also wrote a canon novel for FFX in which he breaks up the main couple.

So if you thought that game was some sort of a deconstructive statement about self-insertion in JRPGs, nope, it was just the writer's barely disguised cuck fetish.
That's not exactly right. Bahamut Lagoon was directed by Kazushige Nojima and written by Motomu Toriyama, while FFX and X-2 was the opposite with being directed by Toriyama while Nojima was the main writer. Nojima was the one who wrote the X-2.5 novel. Toriyama was the one mainly responsible for Bahamut Lagoon's story, and he's said publicly that Yoyo was based on his own personal relationship troubles.

As for X-2.5, Tidus and Yuna didn't break up in that, it just has some other weird shit with the two dealing with some spirits that are haunting the place because of a love triangle where one guy cucked the other guy, but actually the woman loved the other guy more but cucked him because the guy she slept with would be sacrificed to power some magic, and her and the other guy get together at the end when they fade into the afterlife, or something like that. And also it turns out Tidus is also being powered by Yuna's feelings for him and that he risks blinking out of existence if he becomes self-aware of this. A lot of people get confused and conflate the audio drama that came out with the HD rereleases as being a part of the novel (because they didn't read/listen to either). Yuna does technically break up with Tidus in the audio drama, but it's really obvious if you watch it that Yuna is just lying to Tidus to keep him out of danger and the whole thing is just meant to set up some cheap drama for them getting back together in a hypothetical X-3 that the audio drama was setting up before Square realized everyone hated the idea.

I think Nojima's thing is really cucking, so much as he like writing awkward emotional relationship drama in general, which you can he's stuff he's written like FFVIII or FFVII Advent Children.

Was this he infamous story where Tidus kicks a bomb by accident and fucking dies, prompting Yuna to resurrect him, breaking the rules and respawning Sin? Yeah, that one was hilariously bad.
