Ukraine is broke – former PM​

Ukraine is bankrupt and the country is unable to fill its budget deficit on its own, as it relies almost entirely on Western aid, former Prime Minister Nikolay Azarov stated on Friday.

The former politician argued that the economic crisis in Ukraine began a long time ago and the country’s bankruptcy had already been recorded. According to him, Ukraine’s insolvency is manifested in the fact that the country is unable to fill its budget.

“75% of the budget is borrowed or grant funds! And they got to such a point that salaries in October depended on whether the European Union would transfer on time the promised aid of €1.5 billion,” Azarov wrote on Facebook.

Meanwhile, public debt is soaring and the budget deficit is widening despite Western aid, according to Azarov.

Earlier this month, Ukraine’s central bank revised this year’s budget deficit forecast to 20.4% of the gross domestic product instead of the 19.8% previously expected, in what would be the worst performance since 1992.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal last week announced that Kiev was expecting a financial injection worth $30 billion from the EU, the US, and the International Monetary Fund, which would help the country plug its budget gap.

Azarov has previously warned that the country’s economy is “falling apart” as it shows signs of life only with foreign financial assistance, requiring more and more of it.

According to the Ukrainian Finance Minister Sergey Marchenko, next year Ukraine’s budget will lack $29 billion without Western financing.

Americans will dutifully and happily cover the shortfall. We know that they are happy to do so because their constitution hands them the tools to resist government policy that goes against the will of the people.
 
Ukraine has been hollowed out for the sole purpose of toppling the Russian government and installing a puppet regime. 100s of billions of dollars have been wasted on aid. While 100s of thousands of men and women lie dead from both sides from around the globe. I would call it the crime of the century, but I have no doubt the monstrous creatures that run the western world will out do themselves in a decade or two.
 
This guy was PM for yanukovych, the russian patsy who spent most of his term in office sucking money out of Ukraine and into the bank accounts of his favourite oligarchs. I'm sure he knows why Ukraine might be short of money. He's probably holding a large amount of it.

It's not leaping into the sky but the general trend is still upwards, yes. But more to the point it's rising for solid underlying reasons rather than through soaring rents or immigration. A lot of people don't realise that GDP is just a measure of money moving around. If mass immigration causes your rent to rise or house prices to soar, those are both things that increase GDP. Good for the owning class? Maybe. Good for the nation, not so much. GDP is one of the most misused things in the world today.

Russia is simutaneously a bunch of incompetent irrelevant buffons that know nothing about war, strategy or diplomacy, that can't take on a country 10 times smaller than them and yet are also are strategic masterminds that require the coordinated financial might of the enter western world to fight all at once while being embargo'd by half the planet.

Put it in perspective. Russia has a enough firepower to level Ukraine, Israel Style. But they chose to go full Operation Enduring Freedom on them, using mercenaries that cost 1/10th of what America spent arming Ukraine and disposing of all of their old weapons against the US's brand spanking new weapon systems with a few successes here and there. They spend as little as they can, while America blows it's load all over Ukraine.
That's pretty much the smartest move in this entire conflict if you're trying to avoid an American Forever War.

Don't mistake this for Russian support. Take this as a tax payer who rather have educated kids than dead Ukrainians and Dead Russians.
 
Sorry hohols, even if you retain even half your country you will be financially indebted to the West's megacorps, NGOs, and other shady institutions for the next century.
