Your opinion on people is heavily filtered through what they look like, this is why you shouldn't feel bad for internally judging people based on their appearance. Everyone does it, most people just aren't honest with themselves about it. It happens subconsciously and then your brain finds a less superficial reason to justify it.

A good amount of someone's "personality" is basically just their face.

And not just in terms of ugly/beautiful, people that look like different societal archetypes will tend to fit into those archetypes. You can look at a complete stranger and just based on their face picture what stereotypical character they might be cast as in a movie and very rarely, if ever, would your opinion on this change even after spending a significant amount of time with them because everything they say and do will be filtered through their appearance.

Roald Dahl's 'ugly thoughts' hypothesis is an interesting counter to this, or at least an amendment of sorts, and does explain why some people have a friendly approachable kind of "ugly" while others seem to carry darkness with them.
