Interesting. I'd seen some chatter among right wing posters who suspected that it was a political banwave, which checks out because Nikita Bier is a slavshit communist with AIDS. I guess if it's also affecting redditors who still use Twitter then there was no politics involved, they just nuked a bunch of random accounts because they're incompetent.

I used a browser plugin to scan the QR code and pasted the URL into a different browser running in incognito mode. It went right back to the QR code screen. If I get bored enough I'll play with the user agent string and see if I can convince it I'm using a phone.

The QR code is just going to take you to the front page on your phone, then that is going to force you to the app store to download the X app, and from that point you're going to have to wave your hand around or show your face.

I think this is more Nikita's doing, he's been defending it saying it's not actually taking any biometric stuff event though it blatantly is.

He's got money tied up in stuff adjacent to this type of thing too, which explains him throwing a shit-fit about it when people point out stuff about it and Flock.

So has anyone come up with a way around shadowbanning? I created a pretty harmless account, some polite replies, some disagreeing but nicely, nothing remotely offensive or rulebreak-y.

Ran a check through Nitter, and it's hard-shadowbanned. Replies don't even show up in nitter. Twitter honestly seems much more censored than in 2020, pre-Musk/Nikita.

The solution Grok gives is to not post for 48 hours and then post two apolitical, inoffensive things in the timeline to 'reset' the algorithm. Bunk?

It's a new account, and the only engagement I ever got was on two posts. A positive reaction to posting an image someone was looking for, and an agreeable reply from someone whose post I had commented on.
