🐱 Twitter upset over Logan Paul ruining Game Boy Colors

CatParty

The internet is once again upset with Logan Paul, and this time it’s because of a DIY project involving several Game Boy Colors. The older Paul brother is facing severe backlash on Twitter after “ruining” 15 Game Boys.

Logan Paul and Nintendo fans haven’t always seen eye to eye, and it’s mainly due to his extravagant purchases of vintage collector’s items. More specifically, Logan has received negative attention from Pokemon card collectors.

Earlier this year, the Pokemon trading card community slammed Paul for wearing an incredibly rare card as a necklace to his fight against Mayweather. The trading card community also blames Paul for impacting sale prices on vintage cards. Even when he chooses to spend $3.5 million on cards, the internet has a negative response.

Now, Logan Paul has chosen to upset another community of vintage collectors by ruining 15 Game Boy Colors. Retro gaming enthusiasts have taken to Twitter to express their disappointment in Paul’s latest art project.

Logan Paul recently posted a TikTok where he soaks several Game Boy Colors in resin and then turns them into a tabletop. Many people were impressed by Paul’s ability to create this piece, but there are also plenty of people who aren’t as impressed.

Bob Wulff, a notable retro gamer and YouTuber, was among many to criticize Logan Paul’s DIY project. Many stated that Paul had ruined pieces of history and pointed out that a few of the Game Boys were limited/special editions.

Game Boys tend to sell for around $70 USD on Ebay and Amazon. Yet, they can sell for hundreds of dollars depending on their condition and rarity. But to someone like Logan, who is willing to spend millions of dollars on Pokemon cards, a few thousand dollars for 15 Game Boys might not seem like much.

Regardless, retro collectors on Twitter aren’t upset with Paul buying the Game Boy Colors. Instead, they are upset with how he chose to ruin the Game Boys instead of preserving them.

Everyone here who says “they probably didn’t work” obviously has never owned a gameboy or gameboy color since you can fucking play basketball with that thing and it’ll still be fine. Do y’all really NOT see these are all like pristine and don’t even have discoloration?

What the fuck, there’s even limited editions in there.

Nah.. this ain’t it for me. Ruining classic gameboys. For a table? Nah. This was a dumb idea.

There are correct ways to display and preserve Game Boy Colors. As shown above, some users even provided Logan Paul with these ideas, albeit a little too late.

On one hand, I get why people would be annoyed since memorabilia like this can be nice reminders of their childhood. But the thing is, most of the people complaining about Logan here probably didn't have this as a part of their childhood. They're just fans of the idea of being nostalgic and are pretty much wanting to get offended on someone else's behalf regarding it, with the whole situation made worse because they have a hard on for hating Logan.

This appears to be the table.

I understand the sentiment; but encasing them in Resin isn't completely destroying them like I've seen other "artists" do. So while I understand the outrage, I've seen worse.

Capcom used a suicide battery in CPS2 boards. It's supposed to brick the board if anyone tampers with it. Age also triggers the battery.
It doesn't brick the board entirely (or it shouldn't, electronics like to burn and shit); what the battery keeps alive is the part of the board with the encryption keys needed to decrypt the game. If the battery dies, the keys go with it; and hopefully the battery doesn't explode and damage the board. However, the CPS2 boards have been reverse engineered, and you can find damn near any needed data set for any EEPROM in the proper places. Not to mention the Phoenix project which resurrects the board and bypasses the need for a battery to keep it alive. The CPS3 and NAOMI is what I'm concerned about; namely their encryption keys being physical dongles that are paired to the game, as they haven't been completely broken open, yet.

Última edición:
logan Paul knows how to piss off the right amount of people I like it

I find it hard to actually be "outraged" over this. If anything, encasing them in resin is probably isn't going to harm them. It would be an absolute pain to extract them but I find it difficult to say this is somehow equivalent to outright destruction of them. As long as no batteries were left in them, I don't really see the problem. And 15 Game Boys is just a small spec compared to the 100+ million of them produced and sold.

Scalpers and collectors BTFO. If you care about a "piece of history", donate it to a museum.
how? he literally raised the price for the remaining devices
I like the end result. If you want a Game Boy to play with, it doesn't have to be one of those special edition ones, so who cares?
As for preservation... I'd say these are preserved pretty well now.
it is as close to preservation as fossils are for preserving dinosaurs

*laughs in pinball wizard*

Actually, there are a number of game things which have reached the end of their life. Most notably, over the past ten years, have been the cart batteries in NES and SNES games starting to die but there's other examples too, like the rubber bands in certain older systems needing replacement. And, of course, the more modern stuff is reaching the end of it's lifespan after only five or six years, like fucking 360s and PS3- those age like milk. Baring cap replacements and new batteries the old stuff, like you said, is basically still good while post-2005 items are a real crap-shoot.

I dug out my old gameboy stuff recently out of storage and found most of the cart batteries dead. I looked it up and its stupid easy to replace. For shits n giggles I threw my Xbox version of San Andreas into my XboneX and it runs the "upgraded" 360 version with the fucked radio stations. Looks pretty though.

Ouch on the GTA. I think that just detects what the disk is and then downloads the game to play, which is both "lame" and "gay" but there you go. PC version for life anyways.

People do these things for the attention. Therefore getting outraged about it is exactly what this idiot wants. Just ignore his tacky furniture and move on.

Who cares. Just buy or make a retropie console. I did for a little over $100 and have tens of thousands of games. Getting this assblasted over what some retard online does with outdated tech is incredibly gay.

I like to call then retropees for lulz.

And yes. He is an online retard. That's why we shouldn't be mad.

He's a cunt. We all get that.
He's an absolute rich prick that the only hardship he has suffered is a bad hair day. We all get that.
He's done some horrible shit. We all get that.
He deserves to fall into irrelevancy. We all get that.

But getting MATI over this seems even more worthy of being ridiculed. The jackoff probably didn't even actually do anything and just posed for shots/filming while some rando did most of the work while he jerked off in the corner to himself.

It didn't turn out half bad and he was the one that pissed away the money so who tf cares. If people knew half the shit the "%1" burn money on for shits and giggles they'd lose their fucking minds if this made them mald.

I view this as a retarded waste since he could just as easily get 15 new part shells, tape the buttons into place internally, get some cheap shit disused LCDs off ebay from soybugs rolling on their fourth IPS mod of the year and ultimately get the same visual effect. Hell, that is probably less costly than 15 random ass GBCs at this point.

Gameboy colors go for pretty cheap since they were produced in massive quantities, sold well, and are known for being hardy devices.

This is probably the least offensive thing I have heard of a Paul brother doing. Its a stupid little art project. Not worth getting worked up over at all.

Hell, you don't even need a Game Boy anymore. An Analog Pocket costs $199.99 USD and plays the entire GB/GBC/GBA libraries if you want one. I would be more upset if it were a 3DS as those could fetch a high price on eBay, especially if they are collector editions. I should know because my old 3DS XL broke and it was difficult to find one for a semi-reasonable price. Thankfully, I found a used 2DS XL and the old one worked well enough to do a system transfer.
What the fuck this thing I never play is worth more than when I bought it 7 years ago. Thanks for informing me!

I can’t believe Logan Paul murdered those game boy colors. He deserves to be locked away in maximum security prison on Mars.

It's actually a cool display but it is wasteful/retarded to perma-embed them in resin if they'e not broken and fully functional. Dude could've done the same kinda effect thing without embedding them in resin, and maybe give one as a gift to someone he knew once he gets tired of displaying them or some shit. Now though? Now he's just left with a bunch of unplayable gameboys, and these clickbait articles will embolden scalpers to mark up the things from like 50 to 600 dollars or some shit. losses all around but in a funny moments kind of way.

It's still crazy to me how before corona lockdown every fucking convention or used game place I've been to had a fuckload of used gameboys of all types for like 30 or 50 each, kids bought the things too, surprisingly. Makes me wonder just how many of the things are out there.

Embedding gameboys in resin actually seems more like a brainless consoomer "preservation" thing to me than just fucking having them on a shelf or in a display cabinet. It's in the same vein as buying nintendo burger king toys for 300 dollars from ebay scalpers for social media points in retardation levels, which we have proof of people doing.

The nintendo consoomers are probably just seething they didn't get them in resin first lmao. It's essentially the same shit as getting them "graded" and put in a case for eternity, stupid dumb bullshit treatment of a fun timewaster device.

EDIT: shit that custom venasaur one he put in the upper left corner is good shit, wonder if the person selling it knew it'd meet this fate.
