Especially since they (though this can go in hand with the likes of other fandoms such as weebs) have to keep a page of tropes for some random fan-fiction no one cares about.

Not really, it's probably going to take more than a simple switch of owners to remove things like the forum sperging.

At this point it's probably easier to just nuke it all and restart afresh.

You can bet if that happens that all the forum tards will be bawling about losing their little personal fiefdoms. Personally I think the forum side could benefit from losing all the bajillion different categories and sorting things more simply.
 
They could also get rid of their reviews and YMMV sections and the like. TV tropes, like IMDB, should be (and with a proper nuking of all the crap on there now, could actually be...) a place where trying to defend some precious, precious pieces of shit you like just because they didn't trigger you or some stupid-ass sit like that, should be looked down upon in favr of educating oneself in stuff you find in TV and movies and why it's an advantage or a disadvantage to said product.

The problem is that IMDB is a website where the content is based entirely on facts. Tropes, on the other hand, can be anything depending upon the mindset of the writer.

I remember going on the YMMV page for Spongebob once and under the "Unfortunate Implications" section, they claimed that Mr. Krabs is offensive to Jews. Because he was stingy apparently? I know stinginess is an unfortunate sterotype of Jewish people but stinginess =/= Jewish stereotype. If that's the case, I guess that Scoorge McDuck is a Jewish stereotype despite clearly being Scottish.

In fact, Mr. Krabs always seemed more Irish/Scottish to me but then again, he's a fucking fictional cartoon crab who was supposed to be a money grubbing boss who treats his workers like shit and nothing else. People on TV Tropes REALLY overthink things.

Mister Krabs was originally a the sailor guy type thingy.
also he really didn't treat his employees like shit in the early seasons.
he had flaws but he would also correct spongebob when he fucks up and actually admired his cooking skills

Eh. He still had his asshole moments though. Like when he made Squidward and Spongebob stay overnight at the Krusty Krab instead of going home after a long day of work because he thought he would make more money. Or when he tried to make Squidward and Spongebob PAY HIM for simply just breathing while on their shifts.

I do agree however that he was overall nicer and much more fair in the earlier seasons however. Now he's just a straight up douche.

That motherfucker quoted Barenaked Ladies in an article about pinball instead of The Who? How does he expect anyone to take his dumb ass seriously after that?
 
Now that this thread has gotten necroed, I'm not sure if I told you guys that the Nunnery was a thread where minors and adults were both allowed that sometimes escalated to borderline cybersex. Since the thread was pulled by Google last year I unfortunately have no caps. I dunno if any underage users and adults ever cybered with each other in the actual thread, but I certainly wouldn't be surprised considering there were many "romantic relationships" on the forum of that type. It was definitely at the very least very, very skeevy.

That's all I have really to say on TV Tropes right now. The site is under new management, but I haven't noticed it making any improvement in the quality of the trope pages or the forums.

Oh god, why does The Nunnery exist?
Also, I'm not really sure if anybody knows what I'm talking about, but I use All The Tropes, which I find a bit better than Tv Tropes.

It existed until one day in June when some guy (TVT regulars think the person was from Fuck No TV Tropes, an SJW Tumblr blog, although FNTT denies it) decided to report the Nunnery to Google for violating Google's community standards. Under the threat of having all of TVT's precious ad bucks disappear, Fast Eddie quickly caved and nuked the entire thread. The Nunnery was, uh, beloved to a disconcertingly large proportion of users, who proceeded to passive-aggressively bitch about it for many months afterward.
