TV Tropes community

:story:Never change tv tropes, never change.
Just perchance, does this landlord have a whip, top hat, and handlebar mustache?

For my first time dming a game of dnd 2-3 years ago, I used the "Badass Boast" trope page and used a Neon Genesis Evangelion fanfiction example for my party's final boss. One of the players called me out on this a few weeks ago.

I hope, for the sake of the artform that is DMing, that you have Outgrown That Trope.

https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/IncestYayShipping weirdest trope so far.I guess they were through with all the possible ways this and that character might be gay and now they're going for relatives.

The thing is, it has a basis in reality. There is A LOT of incest shipping in some shipping communities, especially if you have two brothers or two sisters, so it overlaps with yaoi and yuri shipping. This is part of the reason why shipping communities in general need to be burned with fire. See, for example, the RWBY fandom, which, among other things, likes to ship the main character Ruby with her sister, Yang. In fact, that is one of the examples given. And I quote:

"In a poll of 817 RWBY fans (held after Volume 1), 23 said their OTP was Ruby/Yang, who are half-sisters. The ship is known as "Enabler". It isn't uncommon to see Ruby/Yang in Pollination (Ruby/Weiss/Blake/Yang) fanworks, though many fans also just depict them as sharing girlfriends in that scenario."

I honestly think the shipping tropes in particular need to be burned with holy fire.

I think we need a holy nuke to destroy those tropes, and the website as a whole.

Not just Shipping Tropes, but Shippers in general. They've been a plague on both fandoms and humanity for far too long.

They said that it's OK for the landlord to kidnap children because he is rich? That's just wrong!

It's been mentionned several times in this thread, but The New 10's is one of the biggest soy pit on the website. It's almost 100% projection, soy, muh trans and Drumpf, with the tried-and-true troper method of passing the opinion of a handful of fat dangerhairs as mainstream.

Just how many genders can there be?The maximum possible number of genders cannot possibly be higher than the number of persons living right?Unless genders are like fractals?
Also do white supremacists actually like Taylor Swift? Are they implying Joe nobody from Whereisthat Alabama is a huge Taylor Swift fan?Seriously i may not have dealt with white supremacists but i'm pretty sure if a racist skinhead went to a meeting while singing 'we are never ever getting back together' his buddies would almost certainly say something along the lines of 'what the fuck is that shit?'
Also you're not allowed to not get involved in politics?Uhm isn't that kind of totalitarian as a view?'The party demands absolute commitment to the cause otherwise you're an enemy.'
History repeats has so many examples you could simply reduce it to :stuff happened.I don't think tropers realise that you're not supposed to give even the most casual link between events as an example.

Supporting non-binary / gender-fluid isn't even progressive, it's delusional. It's snowflake syndrome at its finest. I don't mind if a person wants to be a girl or a boy -gay, lesbian, or straight; but when they feel the need to push their silly pronouns down everyone's throat, it becomes cumbersome at best. Why can't they just choose to be one or the other?

Naivety is the bread and butter of TVTropes. I would be surprised if they could actually stand their ground using those opinions.

For a while, people were harassing Swift because she didn't make any political statements, while everyone else in the entertainment industry was denouncing Trump and being With Her. She continues to refuse to discuss her politics, so therefore she is a Trump-voting hatey-hater whose main audience is clearly Nazi skinheads, because why else would she refuse to recite the leftist Shahada?

History repeats is the most autistic entry on that page by far. Guy goes over American elections history and obsessively lists every single controversial thing he can remember with the implied message being "See ? Drumpf is far worse than all of these things combined !"

The page used to have a Tyrant takes the helm entry regarding Trump being voted into office but it was removed. Apparently it was too autistic even by tropers' standards.

Um...are we sure this is supposed to be Nightmare Fuel?
I think the trope you're looking for is related to relying on an character's previous incarnation to upsell the hype for something that'll never happen.

Well, it appears there's a trope for that.
Some gems from that page:

Not only do they whine about episodes not going their way, but in some cases, they say that some of these wound up being good.
