The Drew Carey Show is the best sitcom ever made.

The Rockford Files - sloppy middle aged detective who gets his ass kicked when not getting into sweet car chases

Hunter (on Tubi I think) - kino '80s mayhem starring a former NFL Chad and his hot lady partner

She Spies (on YouTube last I checked) - Fourth wall breaker starring peak Natasha Henstridge and other hot women as a spy team getting into hijinks

Life - Damien Lewis is a zen detective out for revenge while being zen and having a hot Latina partner

Its been mentioned but SG1 is god tier. Scrubs is still funny even today. House and Burn Notice are also great watches.

Edit: Don't know how I forgot but Hercules the Legendary Journeys and Xena are awesome af. A lot of actors who dont suck today got a break in that. Your love for Kevin Sorbo from Andromeda will carry thru to Herc

I went on a 70s/80s British children's horror kick last week. Children of Stone was totally weird, creepy and interesting and its biggest downside is that about 60% is shot on film but anything shot on a soundstage is on video. Not exactly a children's show but still family friendly. This one's about a scientist and his son going to a rural village to study megalithic stones and discover the town and its people are what they seem. Involves astronomical phenomena, body-snatching, reincarnation, ESP, and of course the ancient stones. Probably some of the most effective cliffhangers I've seen in serialized TV. Has notably strange, dissonant choral score. This creepy painting is a major plot point:

The Witches and the Grinnygog is more kid-centric but still a nice show and enjoyable by adults. This one's about a local vicar who ropes his kids and their friends into starting a community museum. Meanwhile the friends' mom finds a grotesque pagan idol, and gives it to her father to install in his garden. Some immortal witches are trying to recover it. This one actually has a black person in it but he is a mysterious African shaman/anthropologist and pretty cool. Apparently through a chain of acquisitions this series is actually now owned by Disney.

Each of these programs are about 3 hours in total and all episodes are on YouTube. Next on my watch list is The Owl Service.

Watch the AMC miniseries from 2018 called The Terror. You will not be sorry.

But don't read anything about it beforehand. All you need to know is it's based on a novel that extrapolates through fiction on the fate of the two ships' crews from the lost Franklin expedition of 1845. Think "Master and Commander if it were a smart thriller."

EDIT: You may see information that there's a second season of the show. Fuck that. They repurposed a miniseries as an anthology series after the fact. The second season is awful and unrelated to the first.

EDIT 2: Apparently there's going to be a third season next year?! Oh God...

Other (extremely strong) suggestions:

- Counterpart (2017-2019) - Starz
My favorite science fiction show of all time. Worth getting even if you have to buy it physically on Bluray/DVD.

- The Americans (2013-2018 )- FX
A fantastic, slow burn of a Cold War spy drama that never got the appreciation it deserves.

- Justified (2010-2015; 2023) - FX
Perhaps the very best adaptation of Elmore Leonard's literary voice, and a damn good crime drama series. Leonard himself worked on it until he passed. The writers did him proud afterwards. Some of the best writing on TV, then or now.
