I saw a video of the last moments before the server shutdown.

"What you faggots gonna do? Ban me?"

Another video caught my eye as well. I assume the video hit my recommended feed since I watch Steam Deck related videos and Turtle Wow likely had a higher number of searches:

This scholarly gentleman doxed his own name in his second video.

Anyways, Mr. Joshua Hodges is a video gaming enthusiast who enjoys leisurely solo, self hosted MMO sessions to wind down at the end of the day. He has four children and a loving wife that's willing to be a tripod for his Steam Deck related tutorials. I'm bringing this guy up because he has a script and guide on github "so dumb, a caveman could do it" that installs, compiles and configures AzerothCore on Steam Decks.

If any of you play on Steam Deck and want to play some WotLK era solo WoW, he makes installation almost as easy as EmuDeck. I know it doesn't replace Turtle WoW but it's a thing that's there.

Solo WoW on deck? Sign me up.

Blizzard is right up there with Nintendo when it comes to anti consumer, anti gamer policy. They wouldn’t even consider making their own vanilla servers until 2018.

I did play on Turtle for a bit and I gotta say, I was very impressed with the stability, functionality as well as all the extras and quality of life changes they made.

Example: in vanilla wow there were some factions that really didn’t serve any purpose and felt just unfinished. I can point to Wildhammer Clan as a prime example. But in turtle wow you were actually rewarded for the grind with vanilla+ custom recipes and even a tabard!

In the end, I used to love playing Blizzard games. But now they’ve become a shitty cheap cash grab corporation that just got absorbed…. Twice. I for one, refuse to give them any business but the vast majority of their younger supporters let the company get away with pretty much whatever they want.
