My brother has been looking to passively supplement his income for quite a while he wanted my opinion on Turo as in leasing out vehicles for use for profit. I typically find all these "side-gig" ideas like Uber and Grubhub to be a waste of time not worth the money at all. I started and own a small business and it's done well for me but, especially this time of year it gets slow I have a lot of free time I'm only working about 20 hours a week typically, I make my own schedule and can manage to take 2-3 hours out of a day to manage what I suppose needs to be managed as far as car maintenance goes. I am extremely familiar with cars, particularly servicing vehicles and the security systems they use. If I need to change the locks or replace a lost key to a vehicle this would not be a problem at all. Managing the cars I'd be leasing out would not be a problem. Over the years I have gained many contacts and a cheap but quality car that meets Turo standards would be easy to acquire, both myself and my brother have enough resources to purchase a dozen cars to lease out, obviously I would start with one and see if it's worth the time to even keep on this project. I don't trust people claiming to make a lot of money with Turo as I said previously I have seen people try to Uber and think they are going to squeeze in an extra $500 a week and end up hating every minute of it. Does anyone have any thoughts? We would theoretically be purchasing something like a 2012 Toyota Prius or Nissan Leaf and see if it is worth the effort and if it goes nowhere just sell the car and forgot about it. Your thoughts?
