Honestly, if they actually go through with this shit, then that's probably it for me. It won't really affect my blog much, as I don't tend to post NSFW content, but a lot of people will have left, and it wouldn't be worth continuing to use the site.

I don't use any other social media, and I don't plan to. Thinking back, I think I was a lot happier in life not engaging in any form of social media. I feel like it's been a lot of wasted time.

There's still Twitter which is just as awful if not worse in terms of culture, and Pillowfort is pulling the "give us your tired, your poor, your huddled masses" routine. Tumblr isn't dying, it's just being rebranded.

It kinda sucks, though. Bunches of content creators will be going from 1000+ followers to restarting on a new platform. Nevermind the NSFW shit, weird shit got flagged in the circles I run in (ken/barbie doll nudity, beige artwork, bloody overalls??) and it's not worth the time or effort to ask Tumblr-senpai if it can be re-evaluated.

It's been ~12 hours since Tumblr hit the self destruct button, they're missing out on a massive influx of new members. If they had an ounce of sense, they would've wrapped up their "maintenance" ten hours ago, turned on open registration, and seamlessly become the new Tumblr.

Great start for what I'm sure will be a great site.

Just a thought about the people making money off their porn shit on tumblr - Furaffinity played loose and fast with their rules before IMVU bought them out (in comparison to tumblr anyway). I think they still do. When artists on tumblr need a new place to get commissions, they will turn to furaffinity.
