Trump’s Newest Venture? A $60 Bible.

Before he turned to politics, former President Donald J. Trump lent his star power and celebrity endorsement to a slew of consumer products — steaks, vodka and even for-profit education, to name just a few.

On Tuesday, Mr. Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, added a new item to the list: a $60 Bible.

Days before Easter, Mr. Trump posted a video on his social media platform in which he encouraged his supporters to buy the “God Bless the USA Bible,” named after the ballad by the country singer Lee Greenwood, which Mr. Trump plays as he takes the stage at his rallies.

“All Americans need a Bible in their home, and I have many. It’s my favorite book,” said Mr. Trump, who before entering politics was not overtly religious and who notably stumbled while referencing a book of the Bible during his 2016 campaign. “It’s a lot of people’s favorite book.”

Though Mr. Trump is not selling the Bible, he is getting royalties from purchases, according to a person familiar with the details of the business arrangement.

Priced at $59.99, plus shipping and tax, the “God Bless the USA Bible” includes a King James Bible and a handwritten version of the chorus of Mr. Greenwood’s song, and copies of the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence and the Pledge of Allegiance.
In his video, Mr. Trump expressed his approval of the book’s blend of theology with foundational American political documents, framing that mix as central to the political call that has been his longtime campaign slogan, Make America Great Again.

“Religion and Christianity are the biggest things missing from this country,” Mr. Trump said. Later, he added, “We must make America pray again.”

As he runs for president this year, Mr. Trump has framed his campaign as a crusade to defend Christian values from the left. He often makes false or misleading claims that Democrats are persecuting Christians. Last month, he told a religious media convention that Democrats wanted to “tear down crosses.”

His Bible sales pitch comes as he appears to be confronting a significant financial squeeze. With his legal fees growing while he fights four criminal cases and a number of civil lawsuits, Mr. Trump is also being required to post a $175 million bond while he appeals his New York civil fraud case — a hefty amount, though one that is significantly smaller than the $454 million penalty imposed in the case.

According to the Bible’s website, Mr. Trump’s “name, likeness and image” are being used “under paid license from CIC Ventures LLC.”
The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to questions about the business arrangement. But CIC Ventures is also connected to another product Mr. Trump has hawked while campaigning: $399 “Never Surrender” sneakers that he announced at a sneaker convention in Philadelphia last month.

They’re seriously pretending to be shocked Trump’s getting campaign donations by selling bibles? Wait till they see his hat store.

$60 isn't bad for a good Bible, but this is overpriced for what you get. I found this answer in the FAQ pretty funny:
First and foremost, The God Bless The USA Bible is the ONLY Bible inspired by America’s most recognized patriotic anthem, God Bless The USA.
So when the evangelists wrote God Bless the USA, was it verbal, plenary inspiration or were they more like witnesses who faithfully recorded the words of Lee Greenwood as they understood them?

KJV is good. If someone is a Trump fan and it has blank or lined leaves to enter marriage and birth stuff, that seems okay as a Family Bible.

It's okay. Its reliance on the Erasmian text is unfortunate, but it wasn't a major scholarly project, it was a warmed-over Bishops' Bible made for political reasons. James wanted to give the Puritans something so they'd drop the Geneva Bible, but also maintain the ecclesiastical words and the traditional structure of the church. The success of this project was mixed.

The problem with most modern printings of the KJV is the lack of marginal notes. The text of the KJV was meant for public reading, but the thing is chock full of notes that the translators thought would be read in private. They were adamant that it was better to have a bit of doubt than to be confident in things that were uncertain. The lack of notes gives an unwarranted confidence in the text, confidence the translators did not have.

And most modern printings are missing the deuterocanonical books, if one cares about those.

On the one hand, its pretty gauche to package a bible with muh founding countrydox. On the other, what isn't gauche about protties? Go ahead and pander your ass off.
Trump is the definition of gauche. His sense of style is lolcow-territory. I say that as a supporter.
:story:

This is never, ever going to be a slur.

Somebody in the politics thread said this is probably more a favor to Lee Greenwood, to help him earn money for being a supporter of Trump and letting Trump use his song at rallies.

It would be the same thing as Trump hawking a Trump MyPillow as a thank you for Mike Lindell. I wouldn't be surprised if they cost $10 to make, Trump's campaign gets a nominal $10, and Greenwood pockets $40. And knowing Greenwood, he'd probably donate $39 to veterans organizations anyway.

Priced at $59.99, plus shipping and tax, the “God Bless the USA Bible” includes a King James Bible and a handwritten version of the chorus of Mr. Greenwood’s song, and copies of the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence and the Pledge of Allegiance.
oh so its a bible for protestants

Any bible worth buying is not going to cost less than $60. That's actually a low price. What matters is if his bible is worth that. Most bibles are shit quality. Remember the term 'bible paper' exists for that reason.

*looks at photo of bible*
That is crap. You can't fit the entire thing in a book that small. It would take 3 volumes of that size, and that would still be borderline insulting. This is a Trump keepsake, not a bible.

Ultra Maga Vitality would probably do stupidly well and the fact he hasn’t tried it is amazing
Just because Alex Jones has been served major losses, do not underestimate his resolve. The Vital Super Male himself trucks no encroachment unto his domain.

I think it's a campaign funding thing. You aren't really buying a bible. You are donating to Trumps campaign. I don't really care. If people want to give him $60 for a Bible and it helps his campaign I don't see the issue. It's the kind of shit that appeals to a lot of normies.

If I was doing this it would be copies of Mein Kampf. The Ford version because it's the most accurate.
Nope just an old fashioned hustle apparently:

Though Mr. Trump is not selling the Bible, he is getting royalties from purchases, according to a person familiar with the details of the business arrangement.

I dont think spending $60 on an heirloom Bible is outrageous, but this is not that.

“All Americans need a Bible in their home, and I have many. It’s my favorite book,” said Mr. Trump
Sure it is.

This is as scummy as that $100 "Pride Bible" from a couple months ago. Nothing more disgraceful than profiting off of the sale of religious items, Martin Luther (and the Council of Trent) had plenty to say about that during the Reformation. He's definitely losing it as he gets older.

If he was serious it should be completely not-for-profit with any proceeds earned going to charity or to organizations that advocate for religious liberty in the US.
