Well, even if the others don't care, my autistic ass usually gets interested whenever there's facts and numbers to go through. Things I found:

• Wodanaz (or the AI he used) is right in that the Bush admin changed a lot of previous "returns" into "removals"; mainly to stop the "catch and release" bullshit that'd been happening since Clinton. Essentially, if some borderjumper was caught, he'd be driven back to the processing center and released, with often little/no consequences. They'd then try that bullshit again, some on the same day as release. The Bush admin's changes was to stop this bullshit from happening. Obama then took that and went hard with it. Which also led to a slashing of recidivism in half (apparently, before Obama, the recidivism was about 29%; after him, it went down to about 14%.). (Article with numbers, Archive)
• Even with that, Obama beat the shit outta Trump's deportation rates back in Trump's first term. Even on a per-year comparison, Trump between 2016-2020 did less deports/removals than Obama did (USAToday, Archive ; Comparing border and internal removals, Archive)
• NOW, what has been happening since 2025 though, is apparently Trump has turbocharged on the immigration-deportation bit; from the executive orders, convincing Congress to fund more ICE stuff, and even cracking down on a lot of legal migration for students, refugees, etc (as well as apparently delaying visa signings and shit for H1Bs or green cards or shit), dude has achieved net-negative migration for 2025 (at least according to this article) and this WSJ article (Archive to avoid the paywall), with about 675K deportations, and supposedly 2.2 million "self-deporting" compared to 2.6 million in-migrations. Apparently, according to the WSJ article, there's also a record number of US citizens bugging out and moving elsewhere (mainly Europe) compared to previous years.

So, on a general front, Obama was DEFINITELY more of a deporter-in-chief compared to Trump in his first term. However, it seems from the second term, Trump really wants to catch up; a single year with 675K deportations is definitely a hell of a feat, on top of reducing legal migration. IF he meets that number for another year or two, he actually MIGHT hit Obama's numbers.

Now, that said, what I dislike is this shit does not justify the absolute bullshit that ICE has been doing and the general breakdown between states and feds regarding this overreach. Even disregarding the economic and population growth aspects as "neocon/neolib bullshit", the crossing of lines and rules and the general actions between ICE and normal society really seems to be fucking shit over and reducing institutional trust. Which is actually making local and state authorities push back harder. Trump is getting high numbers for now, but at the cost of societal and national stability. There's a reason we're seeing general radicalization on all sides and fucking commies trying to take over Dems; they see Trump's retardation as a prime opportunity to grab control when he gets outta there.
