I don't mean to cause a huge religious debate but an interesting thing I've noticed with maga type people, especially here on the forum, is they are hyper religious and pious until it runs counter to their political world view, then politics takes priority.
Example: The Pope yesterday stated God does not answer the prayers of those who wage war. Now theological debates aside, the first reaction ( and still reaction ) I see online and on the farms is to call the Pope woke, that he is destroying the west, he is a supporter of the brown invasion, etc.
What confuses me the most is Christianity is not an ethnic centric religion, all are equal and united under Christ. Its just confusing but interesting to see that even something so deeply believed by these people (their faith) can be cast aside to support MAGA.
You don't say. TradCath LARPers - I'm bitching about them because they're the most common, visible version of it around here and online - are invariably posers that delight in cruelty and the aesthetics of violent force.
Imagine if a person was sincerely traditionalist (in a deep, pre-modern communal peasant life kind of way), pacifist, spiritual and ethnocentric. Then their heroes should be one of my favorite religions, the Amish/Mennonites. You know, the people out there
living the dream and minding their own business and mostly being left alone in the meanwhile. The people who sacrifice something and genuinely detach from
the world without detaching from
life. That is, really, your American monasticism.
But they don't want that. They want domination. Same faggots that will shriek like a wounded beast if they get censored off a website glorify inquisitions. Hate globalism but love colonialism and unelected globalist missionary churches. Hate forever wars but love crusades.
Tradition? This doesn't apply for actual Europeans, but in America, they LARP as "traditions" that are completely alien to this land to the very beginning. Pastor Jim running Sunday school out of his white-steepled clapboard church
is what America was. Federal republicanism
is your deep American tradition. They want to LARP as fucking Vikings or Crusaders or something and it's as contrived and alien as weeaboos thinking they're latter-day ninjas.
They're not even real Catholics. If the whole point of muh TRVDITION is that there's this unbroken, unconditional line of authority passed through the Magisterium, then if the Magisterium says you've got to lube up your asshole because it's going to be drag queen story hour in it, then you do it, by God. But then suddenly the Magisterium is wrong? The absolute authority of the Church on this Earth is conditional on them supporting it? Then where does the authority come from? They're fucking Protestants at heart! The whole thing is a luxury belief system that only liberal democracy could accommodate!
Then you've got the Evangelical Zionist side of this. US mass-murders millions of babies a year, uses the force of the lone superpower's state to try to coerce traditional societies into endorsing buttsex (thank you Charlie Kirk, very based), but it is also uniquely blessed and God's most favoritest people instead of, say, some Pentecostals in Rwanda that 100% believe God will smite their crops if they don't pray harder. And Christians don't register to them as Christians if they're not White. They didn't give a fuck about that little village the Israelis set on fire, don't give a fuck when Christians are under attack all over Africa and parts elsewhere. The primary god of Evangelicals, as it stands today, is their abstract and exalted concept of what a Jew is. It begins and ends with "these are the dudes from the Bible!!!!!!" from people that think of the Bible as a motivational self-help book for the whole family (ignore the genocide and rape and slavery).* To them Jews are like living saints and Jesuses on this Earth made to suffer for the sins of the world and that sets them a rung above Christians, much less above other religions that they do not care to understand or find common cause with (like Muslims actually respecting Jesus as a prophet, or Buddhists having deep structural similarities to Hinduism like Christianity does to Judaism).
Fuck all of 'em I hate everybody
The real innovations that made the Industrial Revolution came from basically-atheist sects of Protestantism.
Unless you're referring to a specific strand I'm unfamiliar with I don't see how any of the Industrial Revolution/British Enlightenment came out of something like atheism. Of course it's one of my pet topics on here to ramble about Deism, I think it had a real sincere core most people don't, but even aside from that a huge chunk of the Industrial Revolution was flowing out of Presbyterian Scotland, that was a really intensely religious society. (Presbyterians and Episcopalians were like opposites in that regard, both erudite and hoity-toity but Episcopalians were only LARPing at church, which was why the sincere ones wound up buggering off to become Methodists.)
*This is where Catholicism does usually do it better, at least in theory and aesthetically, though in practice the saints are prayer vending machines. Orthodoxy does this real well: Christianity as mystical and tragic. Some of my favorite books of the Bible, that I actually do read from semi-regularly, are Job, Ecclesiastes and Lamentation, so you can see how that's a pretty... rare taste profile for someone coming out of an Evangelical culture. When did ANY preacher last preach a jeremiad saying something like "if you faggots were doing what you were supposed to maybe God wouldn't have to drown you all in hurricanes"?
