The big problem with Trump's rampage, from the POV of a conservative, is that this is going to backfire horribly. The Left, by which I mean the political Left of the Democrat Party, is just letting Trump have his way while offering very weak resistance to his ICE agents ransacking the land. This means that when the Left retakes power (and make no mistake, they will retake power, because of how much Trump fucked the country into the dirt) they will have broad powers to have armed thugs run around and arrest or detain any undesirables, and when the MAGA/GOP crowd cries foul, the Left would just say "hey, your president did it too. No backsies!" That last bit is really the universal rule of politics. "No backsies!" What one party does, the other party will do as well. Bush created a surveillance state to keep Muslim terrorists under control, Obama used it against far-right radicals.

MAGA really doesn't understand history; not even current history that happened post-9/11. If they did, they would be wary of Trump amassing so much power into the Oval Office, because every bit of that power can easily be used on them, if the other side comes to power.

Ah, but you forget...Trump taking all that power is a good thing because he's /theirguy/. When /theirguy/ does something, it's a good and necessary thing needed to solve issues and get things done for the benefit of everyone, and anyone against that is a bad guy who doesn't want those issues solved. However, if it's not /theirguy/, if it's /otherguy/, THEN it's a bad overreach of powers with ill intent, which must be fought against by any and all means.

They have to be obedient lapdogs, otherwise Trump may arbitrarily tariff their smartphone/industrial exports (korea) and chip exports (taiwan) into oblivion. Observe how the Koreans kowtow when their factory employees who are training their own American replacements get randomly deported, and how the Taiwanese are being forced to fund and engineer their own obsolescence, with the construction and start up of the new TSMC plant in Arizona, in which they are obligated to invest billions and hand over their proprietary technology.

All this to maintain their ever diminishing market shares over their flagship industries. They are truly the vassals of the east, if the EU are the vassals of the west.

There are a lot of layers to the South Korean question.
  • They are a race of servile rapebabies, genetically selected over millennia towards kowtowing to their current imperial master, be it China, Japan, Russia, or the US. (very similar to slavs)
  • They're the only Asian country with a significant christfag population, also the origin of Moonies which even have an American offshoot that worships the AR-15 as divine. (not even the best gun Eugene Stoner made) They're probably big fans of Christfag nationalism.
  • South Korea was a military dictatorship into the 1990s, family owned corporations basically run the country and the government has always had problems with corruption. They also pushed ultranationalism and mostly made-up grievances towards other countries to distract from domestic issues. Sound familiar? (Most hilariously anti-Japanese sentiment despite most of the early higher-ups in the South Korean government and military being Japanese collaborators.)
I'm not as knowledgeable about Taiwan but my guess would be that it's just in their national interest to suck up to America as much as possible. The previous Taiwan strait crises were ended in their favor by American intervention and/or the technological superiority of their American provided weapons. Both of which are in question now. In particular they've neglected their air force over the past 30 or so years allowing the PLAAF to surpass them.

Whats more ironic is that North Korea has way better translated bibles than South does, as the Souths is apparently a mix of Engrish, Korean and Japanese. So, South sometimes ends up buying bibles from the North.
