Oh yes. It's either that or "RUSSIA DID NOTHING WRONG" if that doesn't work. We are talking about a group of people who probably wank it to Trump on a daily basis wishing he was getting them off in person.
Though if Putin did fire a missile at DC, how would these jackasses react? Especially if Trump was still in power.

How is it not possible? It's not like they suddenly don't have ICBMs. And they just whacked very well protected oil resources with a hypersonic missile. One of those can deliver a payload anywhere in the world. I doubt the implication was unintentional.

No. What they claim to have fired was an air launched ballistic missile, ballistic missiles are already hypersonic weapons. It’s the Russians puffing up their chest and trying to look big and strong.

Putin has also thrown around maybe sending a single nuke to the Nevada desert - to send the same message. My guess is STRATCOM will attempt to shoot it down with our countermeasures in Alaska. They'll probably be successful since it's only one nuke and that success will send a powerful international message.
Putin's advisors probably worked overtime to talk him out of it - a single nuke launch could be interpreted as an attempt to knock out a nation's power grid with a High-altitude Electromagnetic Pulse, so acting so recklessly should terrify all sane Russians.
That being said, I think Biden and STRATCOM will probably wait until the United States is definitely hit with a Russian nuke before declaring nuclear war - our ICBMs are designed to be able to take a significant hit and can last quite a while without an active power grid.

Exactly - it's all speculation at this point so you could just as easily be right. Trump would've had a more itchy trigger finger and probably would've already order cruise missile strikes in Ukraine.
Biden seems to be focused on more measured responses to Russia to avoid escalation - e.g. sanctions instead of a no-fly zone, no direct military support. I base my prediction on his current posture.
