Comics have always been about mirroring the current times, hamfisting in an already established writer's work and churning out the cheapest possible stories and artwork.
Just re-read the ones you like rather than getting upset about comics changing. Getting upset over the funny pages changing is super gay. Gayer than Superman's son. Also Superman was never good.

People seething over comics are fucking retarded, and don't seem to get the medium. Comics have been for the last say, I dunno, 30 years? Been just fanfictioning things. With all these alternate timelines. Spins on the same events etc. And lets not delude ourselves. I don't think there are many, if any children who read comics in this day and age. There are a number of things wrong with this even with just a cursory glance:
For point one He isn't literally saying to hate one's own life or family, but that they should not be placed over serving God Himself, I believe.
For point five, I believe His family was actually trying to get Him to stop preaching, although would it really be particularly rude to call His followers His real brethren?
For point six, going to bury one's father was actually an expression essentially meaning the man in question wanted to wait for his father to die, so he could receive his inheritance.
For point seven, Jesus is actually discussing what happens after the resurrection: people are not married after the resurrection, so this one actually seems like it may be disingenuous, since it so far removed from what seems clear to me given the preceding verses.
For point eight, Jesus wasn't condemning someone for calling another a fool, there is such a thing as righteous anger after all, He was illustrating that matters of the heart and the spirit of the Biblical law were more important than legalistic interpretations of Biblical law.
I could go on, but hopefully this is enough to make a point. The author here seems to be antagonistic towards Christianity, and may not be familiar with some of the nuances of the text.
