That's exactly how Carney got in: Boomers who didn't like being threatened (well, they were concerned about their homes in the US, because they're the only ones who can afford them) voted for Carney en masse. People my age and younger were more concerned about the costs of living as we have the highest food inflation in the G7. The conservatives here blew their 7 point lead in a DAY and one of their main points, eliminating the domestic carbon tax (carbon pricing is still on industrial items) was also done by Carney. America is our largest trading partner and we are one of the top producers of oil in North America. We didn't appreciate Biden cutting off the Keystone XL pipeline that would have sourced from Alberta on his first day in office, and this annexation talk is another. We are rich in minerals and oil and there could be a pipeline from Alaska's coast to here FFS. If he wanted good business he could have done that. God forbid people need good paying jobs up here and Canadian engineers (not jeets) are desperate for good wages.

The only 'thing' Canada has leverage over is potash, which is needed for fertilizer. China has everything else because all the manufacturing was shipped over there in the 90s. Xi was able to use his leverage over the drone market, superconductors and rare earth minerals to get Trump to back off the proposed 200% tariff. Xi knows China has all the negotiating power. China may be a 'paper tiger' but it sure sits on a lot of leverage.

Interesting to see how the midterms go. 2022 was a major blow thanks to Roe v Wade being overturned; the healthcare shit and geopolitics might derail this one. Trump calling the part of his base who want transparency on the Epstein files 'not real supporters' will also do him in. The problem is, there are no viable alternatives.

It's perfectly normal to not want to eat like poor people, have you seen the disgusting trash poors shove down their gullet?
Thankfully, it's not hard to eat better, and really not that much more expensive. A €6 casserole of chicken cutlets is more filling, versatile, and far healthier than a box of microwave chicken nuggets that costs €5, for example.
Not to mention you can even see it as an investment in your health. Eating like the poors will catch up to you hard, starting in your mid-20s and worsening as you age.

A little exercise I like to do is go to the Twitter profiles of various culture war personalities and search up the times they've posted about major topics. I usually go for the following keywords:

- Tariffs
- Gaza
- Palestine
- Healthcare
- Big Beautiful Bill
- Greenland
- Venezuela

I usually either see single digit posts maximum on these topics, even sometimes combined, or just standard migger messaging while their profile is full of posts about woke media, Somali fraud, cheering on ICE etc.

Nah that was brought up quite a few times as part of the goal of the tariffs, then when actual attempts at talks were done the whole idea of China being the focus was abandoned (at least by Trump).

There are many still convinced that Trump's foreign policy 'work' has involved trying to get countries off of China, which made Canada making their deal with China feel like a betrayal, even though the US has been very firm on not wanting to treat anyone as an ally.

Trump ended up focusing on the incoherent position of just wanting countries to act like they were giving him something, so we ended up with countries like Qatar doing their pretend trade deal where they just reiterated they were investing the same amount into the US that they said they would under Biden. Which Trump then celebrated as a huge win for himself. He plainly cares more about being told he's winning than actually achieving anything tangible on any issue (which is why he's thrilled being handed awards that others won).
