Hammond was looking forward to continuing as Trump but having been stabbed in the back by NBC (and Lorne, his hands tied, basically trying to justify the decision to Hammond in a way that didn't make it seem like Baldwin was forcing his will onto the show by cucking Lorne decision-wise by claiming "Hammond, your version of Trump is too nice. Too tied to his days on the Apprentice. We want an evil Trump and Baldwin can do that better than you could!"), Hammond (who had longstanding substance abuse issues but was clean for several years) relapsed hard into drug addiction and after a single forgettable charity event he did a sketch impersonating Trump at right before the election, basically told his friends he would never again impersonate Trump due to the way that he got stabbed in the back by Lorne and NBC to appease the asshole Alec Baldwin's desire to shit on Trump on a weekly basis in hopes he would do more guest appearances on NBC shows for them.
