That only works if you kill everyone, or over 10% of people. Just popping one or two people randomly doesn't do that, it makes them angrier.

I never said it was a good plan. But it fits depressingly well with Obama's entire... dare I even use the term "Foreign policy".

Lets all face it, dude had exactly Zero idea how anything worked for war or diplomacy. And "keep the troops out, just bomb them till they stop fighting" is EXACTLY the kind of naive as shit take that I could see someone actually thinking would work.

I'm not sure it wasn't intentional. His whole plan seemed to be to fuck up the region as much as possible to cause mass migration into Europe. They specifically targeted all the countries that were stopping migrants from going across the Mediterranean.
 
Yeah and I don't see it. Like most successful politicians and especially successful Democrat politicians, I've little doubt he was a sociopath and fully capable of such a plan, but if so he was so miserably bad at it that it calls into question any cunning otherwise involved with the plan. If you were going to go for that kind of thing, it's so insanely obvious that you'd just shock and awe bomb military installations that I can't believe a charismatic sociopath like him wouldn't see it. He loved getting to trot out his "terror warrior" image, which he couldn't do when he was just bombing random civilians. If he'd been MOABbing the shit out of anything vaguely like a military installation in the region he'd have never had to stop bragging about it. Instead his campaign was so painfully sloppy that he and all of his supporters had to keep up the polite fiction that it just wasn't happening. Go blank-eyed and gaze into the distance whenever drones are brought up.

Nah he was stupid on a lot of shit but I don't see him being quite that stupid, I guess.

Then to respond, if it were Obama alone making the decisions I think you'd have a good point. But he isn't, his desires are filtered through several layers of military bureaucracy. And, as you put it, the mans a charismatic sociopath. They don't tend to care much for delayed gratification. So, seeing no way to get immediate results when his staff tell him "We don't know their locations exactly enough to kill them right off the bat", he just goes "Eh bomb them, we'll hit one of them eventually".

Its not... stupidity. Its just callous disregard for human life, mixed with a naive understanding of battle morale, and with an unhealthy dash of "Eh, i'm sure no one cares about what happens out there anyway".

I mean, it'd hardly be the first time he made a quick judgement call based on naught but his own ego and it came back to bite him in the ass.
