And it also gived the unintended consequence of creating a Streisand effect and people want to know more about Milo Yiannopolis.

I'll always love Milo because he perfectly showed that trying to suppress far right opinions simply doesn't work - it makes them look like they're victims, it makes you look terrified of them being right, and just draws more attention to their mindset anyway.

In the end simply letting Mill speak is what did him in. No amount of twitter sperging, deplatforming or right side of history.

The guy in charge of Twitter's "site integrity" seems like a perfectly fair and unbiased person who evenly enforces with rules with no consideration made for someone's political leanings.

Milo was an attention-seeking clown who likely didn't believe in half the things he preached, but on the other hand, without his college speaking tour there would be no Trigglypuff meme... ❤

Also, an interesting thing I learned from the Milo saga is that traditional conservatives are still able to wield social power in the Social Media world, when they want to... for good or ill.

Leftist institutions, from Twitter to Gawker to college administrations, got soooo extremely MATI over Milo and put in so much effort to try and "cancel" him... Hit piece after hit piece, deplatforming, organizing violent protests, etc. - and it all backfired by just making him more well-known and helping him sell his brand.

But then someone invited him to CPAC, and the trad-cons who dominate that scene weren't amused. They doxed his "edgy" statements regarding pedophilia, sent a few emails, and bam, he was shunned not only from CPAC but from all his speaking engagements and sponsors. His sad attempts to make a comeback after that, failed.

Basically, the trad-cons did with a few well-placed emails what the SocJus-left attempted and failed to do with months and months of autistic screeching.

At this point this no longer surprises me. I’m convinced any hiring for an Orwellian Thought Control Board requires a signed recommendation from the ADL or they test you by leaving you in a room with a cardboard cutout of Trump. If they come back after five minutes and you’ve torn it apart with your hands and teeth, you’ve got the job.

200 years from now, the brief historic note about the significance of Twitter should be: "Indirectly caused the creation of Our Lord And Saviour, TrigglyPuff. Used heavily by the 45th, 47th, 53rd, 54th, and 57th US president, OrangeMan (current lead Supreme Court Justice with yuge hands and MC of the Las Vegas WhorePits annual reloading ceremony)."

Slightly off topic but why do people start tweets with a period? I'm too old to figure this out.
It has to do with a quirk in the Twitter system where it will view the tweet as a reply instead of a "main" tweet. Replies typically get hidden from normal feed scrolling.

In a thread, all of the parent mentions are invisibly frontloaded as part of the tweet text.

example thread, what you see:
Kathy: Kill Trump!
Trump: no u
HRC: muh Russia!
Trump: lol n00b
AOC: ORANGE MAN BAD

internally, assuming no mentions are disabled:
Kathy: Kill Trump!
Trump: @Kathy no u
HRC: @Kathy @Trump muh Russia!
Trump: @Kathy @HRC lol n00b
AOC: @Kathy @Trump @HRC ORANGE MAN BAD

And how on earth did I miss this from earlier!?

J. F. C.

Fun fact, Bravo which is the channel which would air Kathy Griffin's standup specials in the past, along with her show Life on the D List, did a poll in the run up to the 2016 election that had Trump at 65% and Hillary at 35%. Kathy's main audience was likely Republican and she's been hard at work pissing them off ever since.

Yeah I remember that. Was with my parents and mom had Watch What Happens Live on. IIRC the guest was one of the Real Housewives. Her and Andy Griffin seemed pretty shocked.

The signs of it being a shitshow were appearing long before the movie was released. Remember when the actresses went to some children's hospital before they'd even released a teaser trailer?

It's one thing to do this after the movie has come out and kids are either excited or meh about it, but going when nobody has any idea of who the fuck you are is just bizarre. If RDJ had wandered into a kid's hospital dressed like Tony Stark/Ironman in 2006, the kids probably would've been equally confused.

The painted on enthusiasm from the father is the funniest thing about that picture.

As for Feiggot I remember they made a big deal of the Fembusters and Hillary appearing together on The Ellen Show. They tied Ghostbusters 2016 to politics first. No one's fault but theirs that it blew up in their faces.

I very much trust *squints* (((Yoel Roth))) to have a fair and unbiased opinion of the right wing. Yeah, there's no conspiracy of censorship here at all.

Trump should start a Mastodon instance, leave Twitter, and maybe we would see the end of that idiotic website.

I honestly think you guys overestimate the influence of Trump's account on Twitter. They'd just go back to talking about food or sex or whatever, whenever they're not commenting on some article about him.

They're constantly fucking with algorithms and features over him. He's legally not allowed to block people, there's an army of blue check marks responding to every tweet, and I'm sure there are investors that would be royally pissed if the President of the United States stopped using the site.

I can't see a down side to him leaving and I pray he does.

We all like to talk about investors who'd be mad, but the reality is that a lot of them are of the activist class now. Many would probably be of two minds about it.

I saw "#trumpmeltdown" was whatever they call trending this week
so who did he call a fag today?
Twitter itself for editing his posts as fake news I think.

I don't pay attention to them that much, given how it's more machine than man now. Seriously, reminder over half of twitter's users are bots.
