It doesn't help that the Republican establishment and its financiers basically govern modern Libertarian thinking. It steals a lot of wind from your Ron Paul type candidates when all of the people making their talking points are Republicans. Dennis Prager wouldn't stick his neck out for the Libertarian Party even though they eat up everything he makes.
That's the brutal, pragmatic genius of the two-party system. To break with the party that most fits you is tantamount to voting for the party you most despise.
Well, there's that too. I'm more getting at the idea that these little minority parties tend to essentially be trend-chasers, following the lead of the major parties and managing the edges of the Overton Window so the counterculture is something unchallenging to the mainstream. You see it on the right with Turning Point USA and the Libertarian Party, and on the left with Justice Dems and the DSA. All of their culture-creators, backers, and academics are members of the main party, they just throw breadcrumbs to the fringe from time to time.

It's interesting to see this now because the Libertarian Party has never once held a seat in Congress until now and this the the first time that a third party in almost two centuries has a seat in the U.S. federal government. Yes folks, we now have a member of the Libertarian Party in Congress, the very thing that we thought would never happen has finally happened. The impossible just became possible.
So while the Libertarian Party may probably lose this seat by the end of this year, as far as I'm concerned now, a third party has now been legitimatized in American politics now. The Libertarian Party are even cheering over this small but also very important victory because this shows to everyone else that there are other options out there aside from the traditional Two-Party system that we are so used to.

It is going to be a very interesting decade ahead of us now because now the old guard (which are both big money and also the political establishment) that we thought would keep their power forever may as well lose it very soon.

Well I won't argue with that here. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I believe this decade is going to be very interesting because now we're now seeing the things we thought would never happen actually happen. Nobody even expected to see Donald Trump would be the President of the United States and here we are and nobody even expected the Libertarian Party to have a seat in Congress and here we are.
And in his defense it's somewhat hard not to. Anybody investing with any kind of intelligence is going to tap into the Chinese market.
