I would have to disagree. Islam had its fair share of usefulness during the Golden Age of Islam were innovations spread and there was less oppression. That only went down when the Fundies took the stage as they gradually created the mess we have today. Just like we're having our "right-wing" movements, they're having their own "right-wing" movements as well and that's not good for them in an Islamic way.
