Canadian musician Neil Young says he 'may be barred' from re-entering U.S. over Trump comments

Toronto-born musician Neil Young, who is also an American citizen, says he “may be barred” from entering the United States over comments he made about President Donald Trump.

In a post on his website on Tuesday, the singer-songwriter — who is set to tour in Europe this summer — said, “When I go to play music in Europe, if I talk about Donald J. Trump, I may be one of those returning to America who is barred or put in jail to sleep on a cement floor with an aluminum blanket.”

He continued: “That’s right folks, if you say anything bad about Trump or his administration, you may be barred from re-entering the USA. If you are Canadian. If you are a dual citizen like me, who knows? We’ll all find that out together.”

Seeing that diagram of how close that bullet almost hit Trump reminds me of people who deny that even took place.

This is kind of long, if it’s not worthy of discussion, I won’t bring it up again.

I’m not sure what to call them, ass-deniers? Butlerists? J13ers? I’ll go with J13ers for now.

I think that’s definitely TDS to go to the lengths some on social media do to deny the event on July 13th. I’ve heard some of their points, but they never seem to elaborate.

They think Crooks and the random victim in the crowd (forgot his name, rip) are dead, that part is true, but they think Crooks signed up to get shot which makes little sense.

J13ers insist the Secret Service is better at securing a location, and that is true I can’t deny that. To counter, the only explanation is that a few SS personnel allowed it to happen which was never definitively proven, but is the working theory.

Here’s where it gets annoying: “Ears don’t grow back! Cartilage doesn’t heal!” they’re starting with a bad premise and then building upon it from there. J13ers insist his ear got “blown off” when really it grazed his earlobe, which is just skin.

Then it gets even sillier. In the moments the SS agents had Trump in that hectic “huddle” they think he planted red liquid on himself, like from a ketchup packet. (Tbf he does love McDonald’s and probably has some in his pocket at all times)

Now you may ask them, “Why would he stage a fake assassination attempt?” because I can’t think of anyone else who has ever tried to do that. They give a few answers like “It made him sympathetic” which I can’t deny. A lot of people swear that was the moment he “won” the election on July 13th. So to someone with TDS, they would want to deny him that “victory” of a NDE in front of the camera.

This level of hatred can take you to some bizarre places.

This is the sort of thing that pisses me off about TDSers for like the past 10 years at this point. Its not enough to dislike Trump, you have to completely loathe the very concept of anything Trump related and you have to hate it at absolute max and out-compete everyone performatively. Its not enough to disagree with his policies, they must all come from abject stupidity or cartoonish levels of malevolence - its impossible for the man to simply have a different opinion.

And when you point out that their performative hour of hate might have spiraled a bit too far given that it inspired a guy to try to to assassinate Trump, they do any deflection to try to downplay the role the non-stop negative coverage might have played. Or that the media disguising opinions as facts led to someone nearly taking his head off might make Trump disinclined to answer MSNBC's questions.

The BDS were a little more tolerable since they usually at least had some legitimate grounds for complaint (while ignoring Clinton's pointless forever wars).

tl;dr: Its because they don't want to admit their cult of hatred has touched the real world, as that would mean they couldn't signify their goodness via Trump-screeching and might have to dial down their own language and get others to dial it down as well. We can't have that.

Guys, tarifs are bad because they made big line go down, right?
I don't think anyone can make a definitive conclusion about the effects of tariffs yet. Baubles (cheap electronics, furniture, clothing etc.) and certain food products will definitely increase in price in the short term. I think it will be worth it if we end up reshoring manufacturing, which probably needs to happen anyway once China invades Taiwan (they've just been waiting as the US fleet degrades from poor maintenance). Don't care about stonks and neither do the young people in Trump's base. The boomers are going to be pissed though since this fucks their 401k, so the next election probably depends on how many boomers die in the interim.

Regarding tariffs, I’ll take something new over the past 25 years of stagnation and stasis.

I can only think of two things that have improved since the start of the 21st century. Computers and televisions. (I’m lumping smartphones in with computers). And both of those haven’t really improved life.

I am happy that something is different now. It’s a radical step, and that’s exactly what we need: anything that’s not status quo. THIS is change we can believe in. I never thought I’d regurgitate liberal catch phrases, but this is progress. This is moving forward. This is the future. And we won’t go back to the past.

To be fair it's also destroying 30 and 40something millennial 401ks. I'm hoping the tariff gamble pans out. It makes economic sense. But I've had to stop paying attention to news the last few days. Yes, I get it, it's likely going to make things great long-term, but I don't need to hear "it'll hurt for a while" for the hundredth time from upper-class politicians and broke zoomers. Neither of these people stand to lose much of anything from this, but boy are they not yet sick of happily telling responsible middle-class people who's futures actually stand to lose something and are currently hemorrhaging money that it's ultimately no big deal.

It grates similarly to when Democrats happily tell you raising taxes is great! On you. Not me. You're going to love the results. I promise. Even if I agree, I don't want to hear it from people who *aren't losing anything*.

No there were plenty of people out there today with aerial overviews of the masses from Boston to DC to LA.
Are those clips from 2016 or recently? If the latter, it's like it's 2016 again.

What is that sorta music called anyways? Lofty grifter music? Some soy theme? Or a "progress theme" (ironically)? That sorta Current Year music is meant to sound "epic" and "progressive", but it seems it's always with a thing that'll never work. Like vid about Mars being colonized in the early 2020s or a project to do "mind uploading" by 2030.

I'm just once again going to point out that Climate Change didn't become real until every major firm had a manufacturing base in China.
