That's all well and good, and is a sound strategy to avoid getting in any legal trouble, but if the intent was to educate instead of fearmonger, it'd be printed right on the sign so anyone examining it closely could tell without the need for a smart phone/QR code reader.
Even something as churlish as "This sad future brought to you by Trump's AmeriKKKa" printed in fine print on the bottom would make their point better than a QR code.
The niche belief amongst the right-wing, including our current president at times, that Barack Obama is a secret Kenyan Muslim Socialist tells me this isn't behavior limited to the Left, they're just the ones ooking and eeking about it the most now because they're losing.

Originally it was a Hillary tactic to discredit Obama in the 2008 Primaries, since Obama had written Kenyan background on his various study forms to receive Government aid during his law studies. So no one really helped in that situation. Since it failed as a tactic during the primaries, it was then a thing to paint right wingers who didn't like Obama as tinfoil wearing conspiracy whackjobs. When originally it was a faction of the left that brought it up!
