Trump Derangement Syndrome - Orange man bad. Read the OP! (ᴛʜɪs ᴛʜʀᴇᴀᴅ ɪs ʟɪᴋᴇ ᴋɪᴡɪ ғᴀʀᴍs ʀᴇᴠɪᴇᴡs ɴᴏᴡ) 🗿🗿🗿🗿

There was a time not long ago when it was okay to hate on brutalism. Indeed, it was common. Defenses of it felt contrived and contrarian.

But now that Donald Trump doesn't like it, suddenly it's great.

If your aesthetics are overridden by your desire to conform to the herd, you don't have any aesthetics. Even morality is mostly separate from aesthetics. As the saintly Robert Frost once said, a painting by Whistler was worth any number of little old ladies.

Brutalism can die in a fire, fortunately, almost all it's greatest travesties, the multipurpose giant concrete-ashtray municipal stadiums, have been imploded and replaced with much nicer confines to watch the Pittsburgh Pirates go .388 for a season in.

Hollywood cringe of the day: "GOP IS THE PARTY OF EVIL! DEMOCRATS ARE THE PARTY OF GOOD!"

Oh Hollywood it's so adorable that you still believe anyone who isn't a pumpkin spice latte swilling Tumblrina still cares about your opinions.
In fact the only thing cuter is you're desperate attempts to A. Pretend that you all are in fact not a bunch of drug addicted Casting Couch Whores and B. Pretend that we all don't know that you all are in fact a bunch of drug addicted Casting Couch Whores.

Even Pittsburgh doesn't deserve Brutalism, a form of architecture so hideous I actually would rather want to live in a mud hut than it.

It really is fun to watch these deranged morons instantly shift face the moment the Orange Man says anything at all. Even something as simple as "this building looks kind of ugly".

Brutalism can die in a fire. It's ugly as fuck, depressing as hell, and more authoritarian looking than Fascist architecture and that says something. It's also lazy as shit- just pour tons of concrete and there you go. Brutalist architecture.
In comparison Art Deco is some of the best I've ever seen, stylized and something you just can't look away from because it's so damn nice- excluding Streamline because that stuff is jarring as all hell.

Bonus: Even Stalin, no matter how much I hate him and how much a piece of shit he was, had a damn good sense of aesthetic taste- the man some of these fuckers suck dick to.

The problem with brutalism is it very easy to do lazily, as its functionalist - when all you do is line up concrete boxes, its just a concrete box. Bu then you have things like the Royal National Theater or the LEI in St. Petersburg, they add variety to the shapes so its got some dynamism & differing lines, and is not just a big brick or concrete block.

I like brutalist skyscrapers, it makes buildings seem truly imposing, like massive blocks of stone, and you're in some man-made canyon. Of course you don't want blocks and blocks of the fuckers, but a couple of big monoliths give you a sense a good sense of scale with the rest of what's around.

Strange how countries ignore their own problems.

Even Pittsburgh doesn't deserve Brutalism,

The PPG building is nice, with those glass spires on the roof, but the former USX building (now some healthcare company building) is the real eyesore, a 50 floor iron box, the worlds largest cheese grater. Same late 60's soulessness as the Sears Tower and WTC, all function, no form.

There's only one thing worse, the surviving apartments from the 70's, locally, around here, were built during that time when everyone had a STUCCO FETISH and architects thought people wanted to live in hybrids of 1978 McDonald's restaurant and a Penal Institution.

Of all the things the media's "Stopped Clock" gets right, it's not Trump's foreign policy, or domestic policy, it's his hate of something everyone really does hate. *sigh*

Lemme get this straight. A crowd of people chanting "CNN sucks" is literally genocide and the most terrifying thing ever despite no reporter being physically attacked but media fuckheads saying Trump supporters need euthanized and them actually getting assaulted with bike locks and shit is just anti-fascists standing up for America?

Like I'm not a fanatically staunch Trump supporter but as a lowly rust belt inhabitant he's getting like a solid B-. A lot of the shit he's done for middle America has been fantastic and I get why he has such strong support from people whose lives were improved by his Presidency. Celebrities, athletes, news anchors and middle class revolution LARPers can fuck right off with their contempt for the people who give them the opportunity to work such cushy jobs. They just want to watch movies or sports or get to know what's going on in their country and now their form of escapism is too busy morally pissing on them to entertain them anymore and they're like "oh why are all these dumb right-winger hicks mad at us? This is clearly Trumps fault, he turned them against us! Waah!"

CNN's problem is the same as every other cable news: they're only interested in ratings, just as I've said before.

It's so iconic though, you couldn't have Pittsburgh without the Steel Building. (If only they'd take UPMC off the top). When I was a kid I remember my parents would take me there during Xmas -- they'd decorate every floor.

And I LOVE PPG, although my favorite has to be Phipps.

And you've had the obvious errors in that thinking pointed out before, and failed to respond substantially. I thought you were just oblivious; now I think you're disingenuous.

It's the problem of the dog in the nighttime. Why weren't they barking for two terms of Obama? And don't tell me those years were free of scandal.

What I find fascinating about CNN and the rest of the media is that the more they report on Trump being a horrible dirty treasonous liar is that it seems to have little to no effect on anything. Liberals gnash their teeth more and Trump’s supporters become more entrenched and their hatred of the media grows.

It’s amazing that media isn’t learning anything from this and continues the attacks as is. They’re making most of us tired of the same old shit, day in and day out.

It's not that hard to understand really.
The MSM are still stuck in their default mindset. And that mindset is "To take down a Republican we need to find the Scandal" or failing that just harp on anything and everything. After all thats what worked on Bush '43, McCain and Romney.
The same goes for all of Trump's opponents. The media and the DC establishment can't find a way to fight Trump effectively because they refuse to learn or adapt to how Trump operates.
So they stick to the same old tricks hoping in vain that blowing the lid off some scandal or another or shrieking Racism, Sexism or Homophobia will induce the self flagellating supplication their so used to getting from other Republicans.
But Trump just doesn't play that way.
