You can't just have threads about Toilet enthusiasts, elevator enthusiasts and siren enthusiasts, without train enthusiasts.


Edit: Renamed the thread to transport spergs, which now includes other forms of transport, such as planes and bus enthusiasts.

They operate on a complex network of lines following mathematically-precise timetables. They are intricate machines, with lots of visible mechanical components (especially so in the case of steam traction). Also, while riding a train, you cover huge distances and explore numerous regions and types of countryside through a windowpane, that is, without the risk of sensory overload from smell/noise/bright sunlight.

Trains are also predictable because they're on rails so they always follow the same path and run on a schedule so they always move at the same times, very comforting to an autist. Plus they're are lots of different types and models to obsess about, similar to Pokemon.
 
In Hong Kong there are a bunch of autists who are crazy about buses. They memorize all the routes, all the bus models, and they gather together, expensive cameras in hand, whenever a bus sports a new exterior advert.

Some love to take pictures of their waifus in, well, interesting angles. People call them " exhaust pipe fuckers":

I love those suicide barrier things though. We need them in Sydney, trains are always delayed coz some tard decided to splatter themselves on the tracks. An "accident on the track, your train will be 40 mins late" always mean some selfish individual can't cart their carcass off the tracks.

Honestly though, someone liking transport, even autistically is 1000% better than being gender or oppression obsessed. It's bad that it's gotten to that, but I'd rather hear an autistic rant about a Shinkansen than someone's pronouns. Unless they want to be trainsgender - train/trainself/train's....

Oh, definitely.
:powerlevel:: As something of a train sperg myself, I can vouch that the more obsessive foamers I've encountered tend to be Japanese.
There are actually some hotels in Japan that have model railroads installed in the rooms.
