I second this; Bailey et al also touch on this. The environment of the “West” previously has become a lot more accepting, a gradual change with the decline of prudishness tied to the loss of face for unseemly or deemed degenerate behaviour.
1) Young effeminate homosexuals were usually already social pariahs, given that their behaviour is so innate that people can only take notice before they are old enough to properly learn what concealment and lying is. You could argue that in a very hostile strictly gendered society, they have nothing to lose with a transition, which even may offer some concealment or plausible degrees of deniability to others. I would hazard a guess that this is why you see so many black American Transgender individuals that are being murdered: on average the Black American demographic seem to be very conservative in their views on sexuality and behaviour.
I have to say that I found the depiction of male brothels in The Alienist do an excellent job in showing how deviancy (from the norm) throughout history has been known, willingly ignored and permitted as long a certain set of rules was obliged by all parties, especially if the privilege of power and money was involved in skirting boundaries.
2) Like AGP’s, as heterosexuals or bisexuals, have their awakening when their puberty starts in their preteens initiating the male sex drive. Back in the day they would have the wherewithal to conceal their behaviour and satisfy their needs behind closed doors. The social environment has shifted now into a more receptive or at least understanding manner so that they may even gain something from openly flaunting it.
Or you are like a Pritzker, Rothblatt, Levine or de Sutter already in a position of money and power so that you may not have to worry about becoming an outcast these days. @Positron is hits it on the head that the current Western Zeitgeist celebrates it for various reasons. Money ensures that the less palatable sides of this demographic are kept out of sight. They still know how precarious their position is as they try to conflate the two by claiming HSTS traits, e.g. displaying gender atypical behaviour early on; they lie about it.
Say what you will about the Middle East and Japan, but their rigid more collective based culture seems to ensure that these men (still) have too much to lose by being as openly brazen as the currently typical white AGP autist is within their society. For now I have no reason to believe that is not as equally prevalent among men in other places of the world as white WEIRD's

Well that individual may not be wrong now, would he? They concern themselves with reaching a large audience and preferably the option to air the show elsewhere abroad. So for the latter quite a few large countries and even continents are out. For the former it depends how keen a population at large, which will be largely heterosexual, will be. Personally I think people enjoy the drama, sexual tension. If hetero's male proclivity for consuming sexual content involving "lesbians" is an indication than having similar looking contestants it may do very well, but "Fuck that shit LMAO" if you are going to get regular neon coloured, testosterone chugging woke chode clams. Likewise young females seem to dig a certain fantasy of gay males, but if you are going to fill it with Amy Petrelli and Grave Lavery dead ringers than "Lol, just no".
But I also would to see it too with the obligatory T crowd present.

I'll add my theory too.
1. Beauty standards for men were consistently different in Japan and western countries; being handsome in Japan throughout history didn't mean being a manly man. That doesn't mean japanese people liked their men looking like women, but there was a preference for features universally considered beautiful despite being found on men. So being beautiful and acknowledged as such was never in conflict with being a man. Afterall, there are ways to know if someone's a man anyway.
2. Less taboo in depictions of explicit material could make one less likely to be surprised by different fetishes if they are (at least in coomer circles) normal.
Big factors in having and developing fetishes seem to be taboo and element of surprise. Pretty males and variety of degenerate content ripe for consuming could be more surprising to western audience than those who were born into the environment. And at the same time it's still experienced as a taboo due to one's own culture and experience within it.
At least that's my theory.

This is another reason I'm strongly in favour of it happening: TV being what it is, as well as if the hetero version of the show is anything to go by, we'd almost certainly end up with a Monkey's Paw scenario where instead of the degenerate disasters Twitter would want to see represented --the Kevin Gibes, Jonathan Yanivs and Ellen Paiges of the world-- what you'd instead get is hyper-stereotypical lispy gay dudes or body-beautiful super vain ones, and either porn star lesbians or plaid-clad bull dykes. Add one tranny as a wild card so you can have the reveal part way through to create drama, like they did on UK Big Brother years ago.
Guarantee you if this show ever did actually air the Alphabets would shit themselves in apoplectic rage for 'turning their culture into a commodity' or something equally retarded; you can't win with these people so the best move is always not to play.

And even though this person seems to have figured out what is going on, they still don't get it. It's not about whether transmen are violent or not. I do not quite agree that it is about trans women trying to present themselves as harmless in comparison, it is not that complicated. It's simply a matter of what happens when a group of narcissists are expected to share the spotlight 0.00001% of the time: they will start screeching about whatever subject they think will get the attention back on them again.
There are plenty of stories of this happening in real life, as in trans support groups where the FtMs can't express themselves because as soon as they mention say, dysphoria about female body parts the MtFs literally start wailing about how mentions of female parts is triggering their dysphoria and then of course all the attention and fawning switches back to them.
I work in a female-dominated field and I have never, literally never, seen a situation play out like that one. I have women in my wider social circle who have had specific negative experiences with MtFs and although they did set boundaries and cut them off, the conversation about it was more along the lines of 'I feel so bad, I know she's lonely and needs friends, I just am not up to it right now!' while everyone else made sad sympathetic noises. Women more often need to be coaxed into saying negative stuff about another person, even when that person genuinely deserves to be complained about.
I really do wish sometimes that women were the sneaky manipulative cunts that angry people on the internet think we are. We would probably be doing a lot better overall.

tbf almost all the women I know tend to favour bitching behind each other's backs as opposed to direct confrontation, but it's usually just petty drama not some life ruination shit or anything with genuine malice behind it.
From what I can gather, as a penis-haver, it seems to come down to a difference in inclination between the sexes where women prefer to avoid confrontation with each other whereas men (sometimes actively) seek it out. I don't know if that's a natural thing or the result of socialisation --women being discouraged from 'making a fuss' vs men being encouraged to T-pose and assert dominance over other men-- but it's definitely something I've seen play out enough to be more than anecdotal.
What it's not, however, is some Machiavellian scheme on the part of women to destroy other women/troons; 99% of the time they just wanna vent and there's no need for direct confrontation because the issue isn't worth getting into an argument over.
This peculiar dichotomy is also yet another reason why troons can never become the opposite sex.
