It's a little bit cliché to bring up the speedrunning-tranny dichotomy, but I lost my shit when I saw this. It was brought up in the Speedrunning community watch thread but it comes complete with five hilarious characters, thought I'd share it here and give it a proper post.

speedrun.com, the premiere place to host leaderboards in the hobby, is under new administration. They implemented a "pronoun" feature which is pretty much expected (begrudgingly) nowadays, but one thing these guys have been doing is featured articles on the side of the site. Last week, they were promoting black speedrunners - cool. This week, they ran an article on "Four women in Speedrunning". Awesome - this is a super male-dominated hobby so I can't wait to check out these four female speedrunners and show some support!

Just being realistic here - in a community famous for its trans demographic + they want to push an agenda of "trans women are women" means they will definitely put one TiM out of four in here. There's Bananas, who runs Zelda games and seems normal, and an actual black woman ran Layers of Fear last year but it seems that the run has been scrubbed. Most of the actual women in speedrunning are Anime Club graduates, so they're not showing titties on their facecam or flashing their panties during pre-run interviews. Twitch and trannies don't really know what to do with women like that.

Are there actual female speedrunners to begin with? It’s a hobby that’s both male dominated and extremely autistic. It would have been nice for speedrun.com to write an article promoting women in speedrunning so we could know about them and encourage them to stick with the hobby.

I've seen less than five total shall we say. And I've been following speedrunning for FAR too long.

I think one of the reasons, you know besides the troons, is because women generally aren't as obsessed with trying to hold the world record in a category that only a dozen people even run. They generally enjoy playing games for the fun of it, not to prove how good they are and *cough cough* grow their e-penis.

Yeah I know where you're coming from. I've seen a lot of women come and go - they usually just do a few quick runs and get an okay-ish time rather than comitting to the grind. I mean once you get past that stage in speedrunning, you start to realise just how daunting of a task it is, how much you have to learn and practice. Most people give up at that point, which is where I see Crunchy Leaf's point about men and women just being different in this regard.

I do respect any (actual) women who make it in this hobby (despite many of them being deathfats). You'll have to believe me when I say I was initially genuinely pleased to see the article's title before I actually read it, LOL.

It's kind of like the 80-20 rule.

My guidance counselor explained it to me like this once when I was going through a hard patch at school. You can devote every weekend 8=12 hours per day to have a perfect lawn, or you can spend 1-2 hours per week to have one that's 90% as good.

You can come within a few minutes of a "world record" with some light practice, but you aren't going to beat some of these guys that literally devote dozens of hours per week to the game unless you also devote so much time to it.

I'm not a big follower of speedrunning (prefer longplays where I can see all the story), but I have seen actual women speedrunners before at a few of these events, they tended to do runs of newer games ie PS3 or Xbox360.
