There are a bunch of examples of this in media too, like the MadTV sketch where the smarter lesbians are making fun of a dumb lesbian falling for a man claiming he's a lesbian. (Sorry, too lazy to link it, I think it's called Extremely Butch Lesbian).

But to answer the question, society (or rather its controllers) decided that delusional thinking is just a quirk we have to accommodate for some reason. Probably due to nefarious motivations that have little to do with transgenderism but its a good proof of concept.

And behaviour wise, I've never believed that delusion that it's all nurture, not nature. If you grow up around animals you can easily see there are differences in behaviour between males and females, so it would be really weird if humans were the only animals with no innate behavioural tendencies between the sexes. Things like men are more violent and sexually perverted, While women are more empathetic, susceptible to damaging conformity and social contagions. As troons and poons prove every day.
