📚 MegathreadTrannies posting their L's Online - Heckin valid people posting their funny misfortunes on the internet
No. That's wrong, stop spreading that misinformation.
You cannot change your gender. Your gender is an immutable part of your identity, your Ego, your ID, your soul. You can't change that. What you're born with, you're fucking STUCK with. That's why conversion therapy doesn't fuckin work! We transition so that our bodies match our gender.
You can change your sex. And most of us do.
We go on HRT, we go from MALE to FEMALE, or FEMALE to MALE. We have more in common with an intersex person of our chosen sex than an endosex person of our birth sex.
We DO IN FACT CHANGE OUR SEX TO MATCH OUR GENDER, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND.
Stop fucking that up please, I'm tired of seeing that take online. Especially when it's from my fellow trans people, all of whom should know better.
When I went to college 24 years ago I was told everyday that gender was a social construct with no biological basis. So I am just stunned to say the least reading this new orthodoxy.
Man, this is what it's gonna be like when the next geomagnetic reversal hits.
The Internet is no longer forever, subject to censorship and bitrot, but there have got to be hundreds of rainbow-illustrated children's books that explicitly state "gender is mental, sex is physical," some of them with awfully recent copyright dates.
School funding being what it is, better find who was responsible for printing those "evolution is a theory, not a fact" disclaimer stickers and make a new order.
It's an immutable, yet fluid, feeling of yourself that everyone on Earth has but you can also not have it, also unlike other feelings it can be surgically repaired, and there are between seven and infinity versions of it, and you need to express it or else you die of mental health. Hope this cleared things up!
Why is it I keep seeing people arguing over stuff that actually doesn’t matter in all of these trans groups? Currently it’s the new “we change sex not gender” argument. Or I had someone call me a misogynist the other day because they asked about experience dating straight men vs lesbians. So I gave my experience and then they said I was saying “not all men” and being misogynistic for telling them to calm down bc I wasn’t even arguing with them. I was answering a question. It just seems like with everything going on politically right now and all of us losing our rights we should be more concerned about sticking together and standing up for ourselves. Not bickering about gender theory on Reddit. It is OKAYYYYY to have differing opinions. Nobody is right 100% of the time and it’s absolutely uncalled for the way a lot of people try to tear down and make people feel small for having a different opinion. ...
...
EDIT: If you came to this post to argue with me you have clearly missed the point of this entire post. I will not be engaging so you are literally arguing by yourself.
Thirty net upvotes, so this one is not fighting all alone.
Top comment.
mmm i wonder if the "sex is dif'rent from gender, you identify as a dif'rent gender but can't change your sex" line being used by transphobes to oppress us might've some how incited people speaking out against it being the party line in our own community
Changing “gender not sex” used to just be a standard troon ideology. And it’s still what normie/casual troon “allies” tend to believe the argument for trooning out is. TRAs even promote that argument to “sane wash” troon ideology.
But obviously not being literally female isn’t acceptable to male troons chasing the dragon.
If the community is having arguments over stuff like "Sex and Gender are different" or "Trans people change their gender and not sex" or if surgery is even necessary then how do these people expect anymore to understand them if threads like these only prove that they themselves have no clue on what exactly gender is? We're always told to "Listen to trans people" and to "educate" ourselves but how the fuck can we if everyone keeps giving their different (and often contradicting) views on what gender and what being trans is?
Gender has become a theory to squabble over instead of an automatic (and unavoidable) practice that you didn't think twice about. Those firm limits that defined male and female roles and responsibilities for literal centuries have become softened, flipped, or even completely eliminated. Because Technology. Because The State and The Market. Because "individual rights". Because "progress".
Imagine a world without internal combustion engines. Without birth control. Without modern agriculture or modern anything. Without gov gibs, or global trade. Without the stock market delivering unearned wealth, kek. Who did what in human society used to be based on what sexed body you were born into, and how far you could push that body for maintaining your family's or your community's survival. It was a small and brutal world. Short lived, too. Most people accepted it, hunkered down and simply did their gendered roles and responsibilities without thinking about it much, mainly because they really didn't have much choice about it. But in our easy modern age, you can chose any number of lifestyles now. One way or another you'll find and get support for it. (Well, supposedly. Sex based limits have expanded, and expectations have changed, but they're not entirely gone. And then there's the whole class thing drawing hard boundaries.)
So long as there are two separate sexes, with two different bodies creating new life, there will always be two genders. Gender is what a sexed body does, thinks and feels. But like everything else in human culture, it's subject to technological, social, and even political change.

This is an incredibly cynical view of the world we evolved into. You're not specific about what time period you're thinking about, but Prehistory wasn't all dying young of dysentery. There are multiple credible examples of people surviving with deformities and disabling injuries in caveman times. We always took care of our most vulnerable. A "short" life may end at 40 but when you factor everything else in, yes, they used their bodies so hard that they were burnt. Like a construction worker who can't use his knees anymore at 38.
You're not wrong about the rest of it, but we evolved into a pretty sweet deal and fucked it up for ourselves.
