So apparently, someone in China trademarked rdny's design and is using her for political purpose, with all that's changed in the design being her hair color, akin to cookies.
And people contacted rdny, where they're the artist behind the derpy looking Orin that you see time to time in plushies. Basically the yukkiri trademark scanadal 2.0.
But this doesn't come close to the most insane stuff Chinese touhou fans do.
This certain someone makes a living as a propagandist for the CCP. He made up these crazy stories of how he interned as some kind of medical examiner while going to med school in Seattle and was able to buy literal corpses from the cops (somehow people believed this shit LOL). From what I know he's regarded as some sort of "great messenger" within the Great Firewall by "exposing" how inhumane the American society actually is. He was able to get a pretty big following even.
Of course, his story is completely unbelievable to anyone with more than two brain cells and eventually someone decided to doxx him.
Guess what? He was never med school material in the first place. He spent 6 years in Seattle at TWO different community colleges and somehow dropped out both of them with staggering low GPA in the 1s and 2s. What's even more astonishing is that he wasn't even taking hard STEM classes, it was all filler humanities courses and literal English courses for ESLs!
And that is not all! From what I heard this guy has so much shit on him he would make a very good Kiwifarms thread.
With all that out of the way, I believe it's not that hard to understand why some Chinese/Japanese Touhou fans are not too pleased with him avatarfagging as an Orin reskin.

I mean, that's cool. A remake of the first Windows Touhou game could be neat, as much as EoSD is over-represented in Touhou media I will admit that it's a staple.
Edit: For the video for people watching, admittedly I was kinda disappointed that it uses the old sprites instead of new art but then again it has a really nice charm to it.
