Most makers these days pre-fill the routers with a random password. You have to be really stupid with exposed services like a mid-sized ISP did recently that I'm not going to elaborate on for PL reasons.

I was under the impression that there’s collection of known router model passwords on the clearnet but that makes sense to generate a random list. Although if you had access to the specific model of router Todd has you could probe it and see what it does/has stored on the ROM.
