The "troon virus"? I mean, if coming out as yourself does lead to your content getting worse, I guess you can call it a virus, sure. I think it's less coming out as transgender and more how you handle the coming out that can determine continued success. Jim Sterling's sub count, as I understand, has only shrunk since then, and it remains to be seen what will be Jon's fate in the future, I could definitely see it going either way. I have come across several channels, small and big, that either continue to stay great or decline into obscurity as a result of coming out after establishing another public identity. At least with content creators like Lady Emily, they took care of all that before getting itno YouTube and got themselves involved in dumb bullshit because of who they are as a person rather than what they identify as.
