Self explanatory, but also pretty funny

I didn't read that part but saw him with the camera.

Tvtropes (with their usual autism) made a theory that Maria from "Umineko No Naku Koro Ni" attends the elementary school and the raped girl's name was Marie. Basically the theory states Maria "got off lucky from a school full or rapists and murderers and bullies".
The theory might hold some weight if only because Higanbana was written by one of the people who made Umineko, but I don’t think they’re right. Either way Higanbana is very much something I never intend to read again, or recommend anyone else read.

I remember reading the manga series for Battle Royale in middle school. It’s actually really good, and each of the many characters is unique in design and personality. But with the whole plot being well, a battle royale the violence is quite high.

I also came across a manga I’d forgotten the name of: Ikigami. It’s not necessarily violent. But the main premise is that the Japanese government administers a vaccine to all children. This “vaccine” is a placebo and 1 in every 100k (or a million?) is a latent poison that kills you when you reach 18 or so. Something about “instilling a sense of how precious life is” or something silly. But having the thought in he back of your mind that you could just die out of nowhere is kind of unsettling. The main character is a public servant tasked with letting the victims know a few days in advance, and all the emotions and stress that comes with it.

But that's like, everyday.
I realized that as soon as I posted it. Like I mentioned in the post, it's to demonstrate the "value of life" and not being a lazy layabout. It also takes place in a Japanese-like country with a low crime rate and high life expectancy and all that. You could be perfectly healthy, successful in school and have a life ahead of you. But hey guess what? You will just die in 24 hours.

True, I feel like I started reading that and got distracted by something else. I should check my history on my reader.

In Please Save My Earth by Saki Hiwatari there's a large age gap between the female and the male protagonist, and while at the beginning it didn't look so disturbing because they had a big sister-little brother relationship, in the epilogue they marry when he's 16 and she's 22. There's a lot of plot about them being lovers in a previous life, but the other characters who reincarnated were able to let all the emotional attachments they had in their previous incarnations go, so I suppose that the author just wanted a main couple with a large age difference in her story.

Narutaru by Mohiro Kito is disturbing tout-court, and pretty disgusting in its depicting teens and pre-teen involved in sex and violence. I stopped reading it after 4 or 5 chapters.

I feel kind of weird to hear that 6 years is a big age gap. But I suppose it makes sense when one main character is a high schooler still. I'm used to reading about age gaps when everyone is over 20 or so.

Is Bokurano also by that author? It's got a great opening theme but I stopped watching the anime for various reasons. It also involves kids in messed up situations, fighting to save the existence of earth.

Narutaru is a case of wasted potential for me. I love the idea of a dark monster taming story which explores why giving troubled kids magical monsters that make them super powerful is a horrible idea but Kito seemed to be more interested in show off how dark and edgy it is. It's actually a common thing in dark monster-taming stories as a whole (and if they're made by westerners of course they shove in lots of Social Justice shit too) and that disappoints me greatly.

Yeah it is. It's probably less disturbing than Narutaru.

It's not a big age age gap if the charaters are, like, both twenty-somethings, but a 16 yo who tells an elementary school kid that she loves him and wants to spend her life with him, well... I find it disturbing. They marry after a six years time jump, but I don't think it makes it less creepy. Especially because, like I said, all the other characters found a way to move on from the memories they have of their previous lives.

Also, the main female character ar a certain point remembers that in her previous life she has been raped by the previous incarnation of the kid and that's pretty traumatizing for her. They still end together, because he suffered so much and he's so sorry.

I don't know about disturbing but Mieruko chan have some cool as hell creepy shit in it. The premise of the manga is that the mc can see monstrous ghosts in her daily life. As long as she doesn't acknowledge their existence they'll leave her alone. Cue the author putting her trough an increasing amount of jumps scares.

It also features an up to date depiction of Null, obtaining silver for his coins run:

Possible necro-ing but I think this is an appropriate place to post the rare times a manga has disturbed me:

Apart from the from Berserk with such obvious things such as the eclipse, when Guts was raped by Donovan as a child, the trolls, etc... the only manga that has actually managed to make me feel a little sick was Brutal: Confessions of a Homicide Investigator with the serial rapist getting repeatedly sodomized by a spiked cross, the Logan Paul wannabe getting run over by a car and seeing his mangled leg, the first chapter with the mutilated little girl corpses, and the groomer teacher pushing his latest victim into attempting suicide.

There’s a manga about a post-apocalyptic world, I forget the name. But there’s a short sequence where a woman gets captured and is slave labor. During the time she’s raped and her memory lingers about her dead baby. At some point where she’s breaking rocks and clearing space she starts lactating and drives a wooden stake through her tit.

It’s a very abstract sense of longing and guilt, but the author conveys it very well.

I can't believe no one talked about Children's Crusade by Usamaru Furuya.

This makes shit in this thread looks like baby shit in the end.
