The Xbox 360 is Now Twenty Years Old - I am old and so are you.

Once upon a time, Burger King collaborated with Microsoft to have not one, not two, but THREE Xbox games to increase traffic at their stores. Not just for Xbox 360, but the original Xbox as well on one disc.

IYKYK...

I'm willing to bet that 80% of how trash talking from Xbox Live started from one person just instigating out of nowhere. Then, it spreads from lobby to lobby with no context.

Xbox and Xbox 360 were peak Microsoft. Luckily, after 20 years I still have a Norwood 1, which is surprising considering my old man is bald as a bat.
Xbox was a piece of shit IMO. Huge, overpriced, badly conceived & designed, and most of the "exclusive" games were bad versions of PC games that really needed at minimum a GeForce FX/Radeon 9000 series GPU to not run like total ass.

The 360 was their "oh shit, do not fuck this up, or Microsoft closes the division" product, and it was a banger, minus the laughably bad physical engineering and QA/QC. But the UI/UX was excellent, and so was the overall system architecture. I believe some of the people who worked on the 360 GPU had worked on the Gamecube GPU previously. The ArtX acquisition was big shot in the arm for ATI.

OG Xbox had a huge advantage, it was the best place for console exclusive ports during that generation on the account of it being much more capable than the PS2. Some early Xbox games were also superior to the PC ports (minus resolution) since it was the first to have hardware shaders.
Which was what I think Xbox could have excelled at had Microsoft handled it better, have it be a showcase of next generation DirectX technology (360 - unified shaders, One - eSRAM, Series X - DirectStorage High bandwidth SSD) meaning developers could integrate it into their games without having to wait for the PC install base to catch up. They dropped the ball with ray-tracing this generation, no idea why they keep sticking with AMD graphics hardware instead of biting the bullet and going with Nvidia.
Instead it just became an uninnovative COD/Sportsball box.

Compared to contemporary hardware? Lmao. The only real advantage the PS2 had over the Xbox was the much bigger library of games.

On every single other point the Xbox blew the ps2 out of the water.

Xbox live - Enabling dlc for games like SWBF2.
Harddrive - Enabling much faster loadtimes & not having to deal with stupid memory cards.
Graphics - I remeber splinter cell having dynamic shadows while the PS2 version looked like a muddy slidshow.

The extra power of the Xbox also granted you the ablilty to play 4 person splitscreen while PS2 for the most time was relegated to be 2 person only.
I would even say durability since I have swapped multiple lasers on the ps2 for me and my buddies while not even had to touch the old xbox once.

Big Bumpin might be the worst thing ever but Sneak King is fucking magical. We also had a Doritos set of games with Dash of Destruction, Harms Way and Crash Course that were actually good little games. I wish more companies had the balls to do off the wall shit like that as while most turn out bad, they at least turn out fucking weird and memorable. Like buying a whopper and a fucking 360 game? "Oh no muh consumerism". No nigga my slop meal came with a fucking video game for the Xbox, and that is way crazier than a tumbler or a shot glass or some shit you might get at another restaurant these days

I agree with what your saying about the games. The xbox did have an issue with quality exclusvies, but Ninja Gaiden black carries the system and makes the system worth it for that one game.

The only hardware advantage it had was its memory bus speed(256bits vs 128bits for Xbox). The PS2 could do some cool alpha transparency effects that even 7th gen systems would struggle with.

Case in point: the Red Ring of Death and the disc scratching issue. The 360 I have still scratches discs. Superficial scratches while horizontal, yes, but they're there. Put in a virtually new disc in, play for a bit, pop it out, you'll see a very faint scratch.
