That was my third guess and I agree, I had a huge sense that I had guessed it and was oddly disheartened when it wasn't, took me a bit to recover and think of other words. Never sell the bear's pelt before you've killed it........

You still should have recognized the sleazy stunt (that would be a good wordle itself) of a double-letter unlikely-letter fag-trap. Once I realized it was one of those the answer came instantly.
