Just like Hidden Figures, which was also full of historical revisionism.I wouldn't be surprised if this under performs at the box office but the media and social media praise this movie like crazy.

Probably the same number of scenes which accurately portray their king's active participation in the slave trade. How many scenes will there be of some savage nigger cutting off his wife's or daughter's clitoris? Because you know....historical and cultural accuracy.
Probably all bot accounts.None of those fags will watch the movie
"Despite the compliments given to them by the Europeans, the Amazons were decisively crushed, with several hundred Dahomey troops being gunned down while reportedly 129 Dahomey were killed in melee combat within the French lines."I seem to recall the French slaughtered most of them in like one engagement while building French Equatorial Africa. Might've been the British though.
Never bring a spear to a gunfight.Don't expect to see Europeans winning in any of the fights in the movies. It's a weird thing that comes up a lot in black pandering movies that they'll 'honorably' use hand to hand combat to win against tech. Ignore that historically everyone adopted firearms because they were extremely useful including the Dahomey.
It's like they're not even self-aware anymore.> "Slavery is evil! Death to America!"
> Literal movie about slavers
> "Oh my god, this movie looks amazing and empowering! I love Dahomey history and culture!"

Just like destroying confederate monuments and saying that every white person is evil irlJust like Hidden Figures, which was also full of historical revisionism.
As an African myself, and hailing from a country where most of its history is intact, it's insulting to see Hollywoke revising history to fit a modern narrative. Where is the TV series about the Sundiata? Why isn't there a film about Anansi the trickster god? Or an epic about the black pharaohs of Sudan? So, on one hand I would love to see more African history and especially legends/epics put to film, but on the other I don't trust the current industry to do it well in any form.
Like, if there was a Baahubali styled film about the Epic of Mwindo or something like that, I would be first in fucking line, but that's never gonna happen.
Putting aside whether or not the Ancient Egyptians were black or diverse, Female pharaohs wore fake beards, but it was symbolic of their equal rulership with their husbands. It didn't literally mean they were male.Unless I'm very much mistaken, isn't a woman king called a Queen? Or are you telling me even queens were KANGZ??
Nah, white folx like you intrinsically deserve to be enslaved. This movie will be part of the framework to make that happen, sweetie....Feminism and black empowerment could not be any more gay, tired, boring and played out.
The fact that this is turning literal slavers into heroes is the cherry on top of the shit sundae.
Isn't it usually the women doing that? How many scenes will there be of some savage nigger cutting off his wife's or daughter's clitoris? Because you know....historical and cultural accuracy.
In The Book of Mormon musical, they mention the Ugandan's cutting woman's clits off.How many scenes will there be of some savage nigger cutting off his wife's or daughter's clitoris? Because you know....historical and cultural accuracy.
Dahomey became an adversary to the British Empire after the abolition of slavery during the 19th century. The British sent diplomatic missions to Dahomey, in an effort to convince King Ghezo to abolish human sacrifice and slave trading. Ghezo did not immediately concede to British demands, however he attempted to maintain friendly relations with the British by encouraging the growth of new trade in palm oil instead. In 1851, the Royal Navy imposed a naval blockade against Dahomey, forcing Ghezo to sign a treaty in 1852 that immediately abolished the export of slaves. However, the treaty was broken and slave trading efforts continued in 1857 and 1858.
Historian Martin Meredith quotes Ghezo telling the British,
The slave trade has been the ruling principle of my people. It is the source of their glory and wealth. Their songs celebrate their victories and the mother lulls the child to sleep with notes of triumph over an enemy reduced to slavery.
During a diplomatic mission to Dahomey in 1849, Captain Frederick E. Forbes of the Royal Navy received an enslaved girl from King Ghezo as a "gift". She would later be named Sara Forbes Bonetta and she became a goddaughter to Queen Victoria.
YAS QWANG, ya bigoooootHoly FUCK, how did I miss this when looking at the Wikipedia article?
And some dumb ass in Hollywood chose THESE PEOPLE to make a movie out of to somehow embody the struggles of black folx? This is amazing.
For some reason I just can't get into any of the myths or historical stuff from Africa. I can't quite drum up any interest and what little I've read all just seems really weird and almost alien. But I do enjoy trolling people in the trailer's comment section, which is probably more entertaining than the film itself will be.I'll break the trend of pretending to give a shit about nigger myths here I suppose:
This film looks like shit, and all African 'Myths' and 'History' is also shit. This crap will probably the best thing anyone gets in the modern era, because anything interesting that occurred in Africa did so when Europeans rocked up and started uplifting the stone age savages at gunpoint. China has a better history, the Middle East has a better history, South America has a better history. Africa is a boring, dry, backwards continent packed with backwards savages.
Also, Viola Davis looks kinda rough in this in some shots, and kinda ripped in some shots. It's weird. The film will probably be about as historically accurate as 300, but nowhere near as entertaining. Probably about as gay though.
