Today on Hackernews, I experienced something very strange. There was a circlejerk thread praising the United States Postal Service, and none of them appeared aware that they were circlejerking, or that they knew why they were so pro-mail. No arguments could sway them... pointing out how they didn't use this service to receive any real mail, or to send any real mail, did not convince them. Pointing out how they were paying the cost of discarding 100+ pounds of junk mail per year did not convince them. Pointing out how it was an invasion of their privacy (usually something they fetishize) did not convince them. Documented quotes from former US Postmaster generals about how american citizens were not their customers (that the 400 direct mail advertisers were) did not convince them. Pointing out how it was the environmentally sound option did not convince them. That it was a Chinese subsidy for Temu and Aliexpress (they don't have to pay the full, fair rate to ship their products here) did not convince them.

It was bizarre. They're a big faggoty echo chamber, sure, but it wasn't clear to me exactly what is going on here... usually the faggotry will confine itself to some well-known and well-understood leftoid causes. We're well past the "Biden only won with mail-in votes" leftoid cocksucking of the US mail system, that's been 4 years and change. What gives? Am I just on my own here? Please provide insight.

the hacker community is extremely hyper-liberal which is kind of interesting because you would think it would more overlap with hardcare right-wing self-sufficiency circles but the entire label of "hacker" is the kind of self-agrrandizing narrative-forming that liberals like to do about everything. The people who mess with 3d printers probably don't call themselves "hackers" even though practically speaking they're doing the exact same things with the same tools.

Every town, even very small ones, has a post office, so everyone in a small town knows someone who works for a post office and usually likes them. A decent number of people talk to the mailman/maillady from time to time, at least in rural areas. It's very cheap to mail letters or invitations. There's really no reason for normies to hate the mail and lots of reasons to either like or be ambivalent about it. And if some sperg online is flipping out about how the mail is evil most people just think of their aunt who sorts mail or the mailman who delivers their mail and then dismiss the person who is sperging out about the mail.
