Pat has also stated that he would just love to live DSP's life of no responsibility, even for a day. Specifically "hey a bunch of the recordings got fucked up really bad and cut in terrible places by the auto-editor. Upload them anyway, who gives a fuck."

Tbh I don't think Matt has what it takes to be a solo critic. Watch one of his "Wha Happun" videos and it is clear he comes up short to someone like Joseph Anderson or Matthewmatosis.

Matt is just not that eloquent of a personal speaker to pull off that style of video, his speaking is just too slow and sluggish. I also don't think Matt has the sharp analytical skills required for the format.

Pat and Woolie could pull off working together, they have the chemistry.

So I hadn't really watched anything from Matt since the breakup, but for some reason I clicked his "Edgelords" episode on Guts; this comment immediately came to mind about 4 minutes in.

Matt has the problem where he just starts to ramble about a topic despite essentially saying nothing new, which sucks because he does have some solid idea on what would make good content, he just needs personalities to carry it. Box Art Critique was clever, but Woolie or StarPyrate usually carried the "critique" part while Matt was just Matt; like the normal person interviewing an expert in a documentary or something. Crymetina Critiques is also a novel idea, but not for Matt's existence and is only really fun to watch if you like Crymetina's personality which can be painfully boisterous at times. Cryme Time, Creepy Anime Bullshit, Shitstorm... all fun ideas but because of the two man dynamic.

Then, you get Edgelords, Wha Happen?, Wii Remember, Matt's Nightmares... all of them completely depending on how strong (read: kooky) the base content is entertainment-wise, and even then sometimes that fails Matt. I kept Bug Report off that list because due to his experience working in that field it's interesting to hear about certain bugs or removed features in games; it almost feels like a director commentary. If that series was the focus of his channel, I'd love it. Outside of that however, Matt kind of feels like a less salty DSP because his commentary isn't super great solo. It's the same reason I'd never start a solo LP channel, because I'm not entertaining when put on the spot like that and most of my jokes would come from edits and dumb shit in the game.

I wish the guy the best, but I wouldn't be surprised if his channel took a heavy backseat to whatever else he is working on because it isn't going anywhere.
