I was gonna say, it will probably have static supply and demand routes or some algorithmic shifting supply and demand scale like Elite: Dangerous, but it won't react to player input the way EVE does. Even if it were a reachable goal for a studio as bogged down as this one it's already not on the menu for a game like this.
I quite like Elite: Dangerous for its scope. It can be pretty daunting to figure out what to do but it's genuinely enjoyable when you figure it out. Very enjoyable with a hands on throttle and stick.
My one complaint is that the cosmetics monetization model is pretty fucking bad. You already bought the game and its expansion but if you want a paintjob for your ship you need a premium currency. You can get it through gameplay, but it can be pretty slow going with a 400 ARX weekly cap.

How anyone can spend thousands of dollars on ship jpgs is beyond me. At least you can fly around the $5 jpgs FDev wants to sell you.

ED is actually pretty boring. There's a reason why most people call it a space trucking sim. Multiplayer and community features were an after thought and it shows. Last time I played, there still wasn't even any guilds in the game and squadding up was still broken. All organized players can do is game the background sim, which is exactly as fun as it sounds (it isn't). Yeah sometimes bands of players would jump other bands of players but it wasn't exactly a common occurrence.

Fun fact. See how Microsoft funded and developed an amazing Flight Simulator installment while SC/SQ42 aren't anywhere close to release? Well, Jörg Neumann, the current head of the Microsoft Flight Sim group worked to release Freelancer after Chris was fired from Digital Anvil. Imagine that.
Oh shit, it's Derek Smart! I'm sorry, I don't visit this thread.

Great job on your initial exposé back in 2015, and your continued blog posts. I eagerly await your gloating once RSI goes under and the servers get shut down, leaving the game in an unpayable state. (Despite the promises back in 2012 of private servers!)

Yeah, ED is an acquired taste. I personally don't like it as much as I thought I would, but it is what it is. The upcoming "legs" Odyssey update is looking fantastic!

It's fun during the first five or so hours. After that, you've probably done everything there is to do. I doubt that's changed in five years except now with more grinding cause of the Engineers update.

This is more or less my experience with Elite: Dangerous as well. I remember a somewhat older series of games, they were called X. Those games were a lot of fun. The slow, autistic kind of fun if you know what I mean.

I’ve sunk a lot of time into both the X series and Elite, and they’re very different games. X has always been about building an empire. At first glance, X looks like a combat sim with empire building elements tacked on, but it’s actually the exact opposite. It’s an empire building game with combat sim elements tacked on.

Elite, on the other hand, is a pure space simulator. Virtually nothing you do in the game will make any sort of lasting impact on the universe. It’s space trucking and space mining and space combat in almost its purest form, get rich or die trying. In that regard I’d almost say it’s more like Eve, where a group of people can impact the BGS, but a solo player is more or less at its whim.

Was there ever a follow up to this? Sunk Cost Galaxy was a good video series.
The year is 20XX. Sunk Cost Galaxy has reached $300,000,000 in crowdfunding dollars, but has still not released its 1,000-part series on the Chris Roberts Megaplex and their solid-gold space station orbiting the Moon.
At this point I could almost believe that the long delay to end the series is some kind of performance art.

new elite dangerous trailer or whatever the game is called just came out. star citizen backers on suicide watch.

That's for the new expansion Odyssey, which includes atmospheric planetary landings and space legs. In other words, features Star Shitizen was claiming were going to be unique to it. Unfortunately no zero G space legs yet. I was hoping to be able to board other ships and take them over.
