Funny to think that the Soviets originally had to parachute out of their capsule while it descended in the old Vostok capsules. Guess they weren't up there for very long, but still very different to this far safer procedure.
Edit: Just read originally Vostok 5 was meant to be 8 days but got cut to 5 due to solar flares (also had shitter problems lmao). 8 days in this fucking thing, then you had to parachute down separately. I'd say I'd rather have to wait around in a capsule for a while.
